Rottie, I suggest using a colander or strainer over the bowl to keep the sprouts out of the draining water. You can also lay a paper towel in the bowl and remove it after a short period of it collecting the drain water. Air circulation is important around the sprouts as well.

couple other pointers....A tiny fan placed nearby, if the natural air movement in the surrounding area is stifled, will help speed the sprouting process along. Also, do a long enough rinse to lower the temperature of large batch of sprouts....they create heat as they grow. Citric acid (anti-oxidant) can be used in the rinse water now and then to help remove/retard oxidation and spoilage.
