Default I'm a newbie to forum and lifestyle

Hi All! I appreciate this forum. I had heard of raw food diets years ago (people with cancer talked of the benefits). It was through the Master Cleanser that I first decided to try some of the ideas myself. The first book I bought was in 1996. But I didn't stay with it; I never really adopted it completely anyway. I just finished a 4th cleanse and decided that this time I'm going to advance gradually.

I'm mostly gluten-free and semi-vegetarian and already eat a lot of raw, but I am excited about the substitutes that can be made. I have a small food processor and my dehydrator just came a couple days ago. I already tried a few things in it. I skipped buying processed rice and almond crackers today and will try some of the recipes I've seen for veggie chips and so on.

I'll be buying a good juicer when my budget allows. I didn't want to buy a cheapie and be dissatisfied. The reviews of those around $100 just didn't sound good enough. I may make the yard sales and see if I can find an interim one -- if I'm lucky.

Well, I'm interested in reading the posts here and I'm sure the support I need will be here. I'm about 30% raw at this point and look forward to increasing that percentage pretty soon. I'm afraid my fiance will still be eating his burgers and such, but I already serve him raw recipes as side dishes.

About me personally: I'm 57 and it's about time :-} I improve my diet even more. I'm not overweight and I love to rollerblade with my dog. I live in Imperial Beach, a funky town on the Mexican border just south of San Diego.I used to think the raw kitchen was daunting and I still have a lot of things to set up. I haven't sprouted anything since the 70s! I intend to buy Alissa's book and I hope there will be guidelines in it. I know you all will help.

Once again, thanks for being here.
