Wink you gotta try this for your kids

Our morning smoothie that always gets smiles. And it is a way for me to get those good oils down them.

Grind about 1 tablespoon per child of flax seed and sesame seed (in coffee food grinder).

Grind about 2 tablespoons per child of sunflower seed (in coffee food grinder).

Add all to blender with 1 banana (per child).

Add lots of water. I fill the blender, but then I am making for three kids.

Blend as long as you feel necessary.

It taste like chocolate ????? Sometimes the kids like ice in it.

Let me know what you think -- by the way -- it is good for adults too! I just up the quantity of seeds for me. Enjoy!

Great idea - may I suggest that, since you are going to be consuming them wet anyway, you soak the sesame and sunflower seeds overnight, to reduce phytic acid content? They'll blend easily enough even if you soak them whole, since they'll be pretty soft after soaking. Soaking flaxseeds is also an option, of course:

Also, I'd suggest that you don't feed your children these ingredients 7 days a week - it'd probably be better to go for 5 days and then rest for 2. Otherwise, there is a small risk of the body building up a sensitivity to the ingredients, which would be a huge pity.

Ann Wigmore, for example, said the same of wheatgrass juice.

That notwithstanding, however, I think your idea is an excellent one for the health of your children. It's also a good source of calories if they are on an otherwise low calorie high-raw diet.

Sounds wonderful! Besides, soaking the sunflower seeds, I would also add some kind of green. Yes, it will turn the drink green, but you can make up names like "The Hulk" or "Poisin Ivy" (from Batman). You can start out with small amounts of mild greens, and keep adding slowly but surely. Also, every once in a while, add something like aragula or cilantro or mescun (spelling?) , something a little more zesty.

    Blessings.

    Arky,

I just want to clarify what you said about building up sensitivities,,, so we have pretty much the same smoothie each morning too,, banana, strawberries, apple or red pear, and some almonds..... is that not ok?
I certainly don't want to build sensitivities in my children
