    Default Coconut Aminos?

Has anyone else heard of this? I was at the health food store and I saw this in the soy sauce section. It doesn't have wheat or soy - two things I stay away from and its made by Coconut Secret. The label goes into how they make it so that it stays raw and living. I am excited to try it but wanted to check here first - anyone have any experience with it?

I first heard about it here on earlier posts. I've got a bottle (I ordered mine through Azure Standard) - but I haven't used it yet! Nice to have a wheat & soy free option, isn't it? *Ü*

    I'm wondering if there's any naturally-occurring msg.

It's awesome! We are soy & gluten-free also and use it in our pates as a replacement!

    Highly recommended!

    Default I Love It!

I use it in recipes in place of salt. I also use it by itself as a dip for my raw sushi rolls. I love the depth and salty flavor it adds.

Great! I am looking forward to trying it today!

Stina - if there is any naturally occurring MSG I will know and let you know because I'm highly sensitive to MSG and I'll have a reaction if there is. I'm really hoping you're wrong though. :)

Reina -- I am also very sensitive to MSG and cannot have even a drop of Bragg's aminos without feeling like poo. I have had NO problems with the coconut aminos -- and totally love them even those the flavor is not a perfect replacement. I can't wait to hear how they work for you! :)

I have used it several times and like it pretty well. It has a unique smooth/rich flavor with a slight 'middle note' sweetness that pairs well with the saltiness.

I can't be right or wrong when I was just wondering if there is any!

Glad to hear others aren't having any msg reaction, that's a good sign. I have to be careful to avoid it too and it can pop up in unlikely places. Thank goodness I don't eat processed food, natural flavoring can mask msg on the label. Yikes, that's wrong!

Anyone ever heard of msg reactions ever referred to as Restaurant Syndrome?

Sorry Stina, I didn't mean to imply anything. :)

Yes, I have heard of Restaurant Syndrome. I was wondering why I got ghastly ill with the weirdest migraine headache after eating chinese (and I love Chinese, addicted to the stuff in that allergy addicted kind of way - craving what is bad for you) and thought my head was going to explode and not knowing where I was or who I was. Finally realized it was MSG. Funny thing is I ate alot of Chinese growing up and never had a problem until later in life - delayed reaction I guess.

I had to give up Chinese food several years ago. People thought I was relapsing on drugs after I'd be exposed to msg.... ! All stupid and glassy eyed.

So, yes, I will give the coconut aminos two thumbs up!

At first I was hmmm but I think I was expecting it to taste just like soy sauce. After I got past that, I really liked it! Here is what I did with it:

    1 carrot
    1 bell pepper
7 outer leaves of napa cabbage
    4 shitake mushrooms
    1 zucchini
    2 TB olive oil
    2.5 TB coconut aminos
    dash salt and pepper

I thinly sliced and marinated all these for about 2 hours and slightly warmed it in oven next to the cinnamon bread I have dehydrating then I topped with chopped walnuts and a little bit of ground flax.

All in all, a very interesting taste combination. Not for everyone I'm sure, I was kind of cleaning out my fridge. I wouldn't let the cabbage sit for too long I think because it might ferment (it had a little different taste?) but I enjoyed it.
