    Default Help..weight gain!!!

I'm new to this site...glad I found you, cause I'm now desperate..
I've been 95% raw since October 2010, result of lung cancer...and beating it!!yeah...but.as time goes on, I'm adding things, sprouted bagels and muffins, had some fish...and even before this, when on only veggies, some nuts, some seeds...(can't do fruit due to the cancer), I've gained weight..I feel disgusting...How does one gain on veggies? Am I eating too many??
I'm lightly steaming them, have a salad for lunch, and juice wheatgrass, sunflower and greenpea sprouts for breakfast.
I've been limited in exercise, having dislocated my hip in october...I'm now doing much better, and back into the pool....
I also have a way too big tummy...bloated tummy although I dont feel gassy.
Any mavens out there who can shed some light on this??
In all other areas, I'm the picture of health...clean scans, and feeling good.
thanks to anyone with ideas of what to do...

I have a friend just gone raw and is gaining weight and it is reckoned that she is not getting enough calories and her body is storing fat as a result.

I can really relate to the bloated stomach. I wish I knew where that comes from. A couple of days ago I was 8 months pregnant. Now I'm at 4 months--only known woman to have a reverse preganancy!

On the weight gain, you might try recording your food intake for a week to just see whether you're getting too few/too many calories or too much or too little fat. There are a lot of calorie counting websites out there; I prefer cronometer (http://cron-o-meter.en.softonic.com/) as it loads right onto my computer, it's free, and it allows you to set your own RDAs and percentages for carbs, fats, and proteins.

I've been 50%-100% raw for the last 3 years and haven't lost a pound--so I'm probably not the best to be giving advice. But I feel a whole lot better, and I'll settle for that while I figure out how to take the weight off.

The tummy is probably down to bad food combining.

Good thought--I left on Thursday morning for a yoga retreat and had problems with my digestive system the whole time, cuminating with symptoms similar to food poisoning. This is something I've suffered from for years and have gotten under control with a primarily raw food diet. I'm not sure what triggered it this time, as it started before the retreat so wasn't the food they served there. I was eating a lot of processed food before I left--tabouli bought from the grocery store, and I know there's citric acid in it. I wonder if that was part of the problem.

I feel much better today. There was a lot of emotional work during the retreat as well, so maybe it was pent up emotions that had to get out one way or the other.

Speaking friendly, you are already fighting with lot of things like lung cancer and injury rehab.I think that you need to be patient and if you want to increase your weight you can any of the supplement but please consult it with the chemist before using it.
