I'm a 56 yr old female, experiencing the usual health problems of a person long eating SAD. Obese, complete metabolic syndrome (Hi BP, fluctuating blood sugars and a history of gestational diabetes, terrible lipid profile, aching back, knees and hips, and now, my most recent mammogram was 'iffy' and they want me to come back in 6 mos. What next?
On the drive back home, I thought, WHEN are you going to REALLY do something about your health, Cheryl? Don't you want to live longer, feel good, and not hurt everywhere? Do you LIKE health scares? When you finally DO have grandchildren, wouldn't you like to be able to play and have fun with them?
I've been on every diet out there, and exercise program (of course). I've felt crummy and unhealthy for years. I've 77 pounds to lose, a lot of plaque in my arteries to get rid of, and a lot of blood tests to change. My complexion looks like death. Grey and mottled, LOL. In researching raw food, I realize that the only way to eat that is going to help me lose weight AND keep away disease and old age.....is raw.
So here I am. I've been 80-90% raw-fooding it for 4 days. I feel lighter already. Airy. Less bogged down.
I hope to some day be 100% raw. I'm looking for like-minded people to talk with and be supportive to each other.
56 and new to raw
I'm a 56 yr old woman, married, 2 grown sons, obese and in increasingly ill health.
Hope to learn a lot on this forum, and maybe someday contribute.
I've noticed in 4 days of being 80-90% raw, I feel so much better. Light.
Have been doing research on raw for about a year. Ready to make the commitment to taking responsibility for my own health.

Welcome to the group, Cheryl! I have more to lose than you do and it's coming off nicely with the raw for me. I'm two weeks into it and about 12lbs lighter.
It pays to be a spry grandmother. I know my kiddoes enjoy the fact that my Mom plays with them a lot and doesn't buy into the "I'm old" thing. I know that I loved that about my grandmothers as well, I enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, and lots of stuff with them.
