    Default Replanting grape vines

We are putting up a privacy fence, and as a result, we need to move our grape vines. Any suggestions how to prepare them for the move or how or when to move them?

autumn, now is the perfect time to dig them up, cut them back about 1/3 off the new growth, and transfer those babies over.

Or depending on your weather, you can wait a month or more, you want to do it before the snow sets in, and after you pick all your grapes, now now to Feb is a good time depending on any snow you may get.

We moved ours a couple of times, with never a hitch. and we always moved them in the fall, after picking.

Do you know what kind you have? We have 6 different kinds, but I can't remember what types, 2 ornamentals, that are fruit baring and 2 white, and 2 red, all seedless, except the ornamentals.

They are so very pretty, and the grapes are so tasty.

Each year Dragggon hacks them back, and each year they grow more prolific.

We now have to hack back the vines about every week on our High Priestess Temple which doubles as our grape arbor, as the grapes grow so very fast here. They love our weather, and the lake water, that Dragggon waters them with.

We bought a sump pump this last year, so we could water all our gardens from the lake, instead of using the tap water, what a difference that makes. WOW.

anyway, that is a whole different thread.

Thanks for the info! I should have known you and Dragggon would have the answer! We have white, red, Concord grapes. I love 'em!

Snow? I haven't seen that (here at least) in 5 years. I miss it!
