Thread: Detox too early

    Default Detox too early

Here's a question for the more experienced on this board. A friend of mine just started the raw food way of life, eating fruit in the morning, salad for lunch followed by more fruit but still having her SAD food at night, starting out slowly kinda. The only problem is she started experiencing stomach upsets, lethargy and lots and lots of BM's (I know too much info), but this basically started the day after she started eating this way, she doesn't want to stop because she feels she is detoxing, but can detox start so early on, I was always under the impression it would take at least a few days to get going.

Hi Joanne. I can tell you, I came from such a toxic diet, that after 3 raw meals, thats 1 day raw I began detoxing, the mucous pressure/headache etc. I couldnt believe it.

So based on that experience, I wouldnt say someone could start detoxing too early.
Her body is getting used to a new level of fiber and nutrition, so it will adjust its method of digestion and elimination, as well as beginning to release stored toxins.

Are you worried about her? She has the instinct that it is detox and is trusting her body, and that's great. Her body will adjust to her new diet soon.

Thats fabulous that she is making such wonderful healthy changes, you must be quite proud of her.

    Warmly~

Hi Sweetgoddess, thank you for replying. Yes, I am very proud of her, she is my sister's best friend, a very nice person. I was worried because I didn't think that detox would happen so quickly, she is keen to keep going which is wonderful for sure, and I will be there to support her throughout. I feel so much better knowing that it was detox and it can happen even after one day, I thought it might have been something else like an ulcer or something, how amazing are our bodies, it still leaves me in awe sometimes.

Even if it is an ulcer (from what you are describing, highly unlikely), that's what ulcers do ~ detox. The body will create openings where there "shouldn't" be in order to get stuff out that "shouldn't" be in there.

Good for your friend! One thing I told my class the other day after one told how he detoxed from caffeine and cigarettes ~ if it wasn't poisonous to the body, there would be no detox.... there would just be the natural elimination. What your friend (and so many others) is going through shows how bad what she's been eating has been for her. At least it's coming out the "right" way... yet, long as it comes out...

...and btw ~ bm talk is not verboten here. Where else can one talk about that in "polite" company? lol

    Kudos to her!

YES, it is most likely detox, I started detoxing immediately that first day I had such a terrible headache, and by the next morning I fetl great.

Then the next time I went 100% raw, I started detoxing again, but this time it lasted 3 weeks, and I was in bed the whole time, WOW, am I glad that is over. (fingers are crossed here) LOL

Good for your friend, how marvelous of her to take such good care of herself, and how wonderful for you to care about her.

Make sure to let her know about this board, so she can come and play with all of us, and join in the fun.)
