Thank you Aleesha. I read the original post and suddenly felt so sorry for the poor goat.
This explains why I am against keeping pets.
You go and save a dog from the dog pound and think that you are saving a life but do not think of the many lives that are going to be sacrificed (after having lived since birth in appalling conditions) just to keep that one life going for the next number of years.

ive seen people say they feed their vegan dogs cooked dried beans ,
they use differring types for a broader mineral base .
such as lima / northern / kidney / garbanzo / etc / etc

yep, my dog is vegan and has been mostly vegan most of her life. i get comments on her shiny soft coat, bright eyes and tons of energy. so it doesnt have to be and "either-or". its possible to have pets and also avoid causing additional suffering to other animals; ie. dogs can thrive on vegan diets. theres alot of stuff on it on 30bananas a day website, and also theres a book called vegetarian dogs: towards a world without exploitation, with recipes etc. also commercial vegan dog foods are available, though i suggest supplementing them with fresh foods as well.

I didn't want to give money to the horrible farming industry - but I can't give up my dogs, so I found a source of natural animals that are raised humanely. The people started it because they couldn't find a healthy source of meat for their dogs. They raise their own goats and rabbits and have many other products/animals for sale.

It costs me nearly $200 a month for my 2 dogs(they're large) but I think it's worth it to keep them eating their natural, healthy diet and causing the least amount of stress and suffering to the food animals as well.

I too use a local farm to buy meat for my 2 Pomeranians and my Doberman. They NEED meat. Their digestive system is set up for it. I have yet to see a vegan dog look healthy. The ones I've seen lack coat luster and energy. Now I'm not saying all vegan dogs look ill, just the ones I've seen in person. Let's face it, if your against having meat in the house, buy a gerbil...
