Default Green smoothie with my NEW vitamix and ?

I just tried a green smoothie with my new vitamix. Fantastic. !!:) I now am drinking a green SMOOTHIE and not a green chewy. Maybe a dumb question but what is the best way to make one of these in the vitamix??? I put all the stuff in--turned it on low (variable speed) increased a little and then turned it on high. Is that what you all do to make smoothies???

Yes, that's the perfect way to make a smoothie. It's better to gradually increase the speed. It's better for the food quality and for the Vitamix. Enjoy your new blender! :)

May I ask what is the reason that gradually increasing the speed is better for the food quality? The food is completely blended into liquid either way.

Less air/oxidation occurs. Also less wear and tear on the motor, which is important when one is using an expensive blender.

Thank you. I will try it to see if less air gets into the smoothie.

Well, rawkindi I AM over 50!! :) I do love my new vitamix!! What fantastic smoothies it makes and oh so fast. I like a variety of greens (depending on what I have)--kale, bok choy, lettuce, spinach-- and then put a variety of fruit-- I like bananas, apples --one time I put citrus with the greens and other time grapes. Very good.
