Are you saying that there are not many photos in the new recipe book? Don't people understand how many of us will not buy a recipe book unless there are photos I am disappointed.

    HELLO...HELLO...HELLO EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know...I know... You're sitting there saying, "Gurl, where in the WORLD have you BEEN!!!" LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! O.k..., here's where I've been:

    ONTARIO, CA
    SAN FRANCISCO, CA
    ARIZONA
    LOS ANGELES, CA
    PORTLAND, OR

Yea, I've been GONE...literally!!!! It feels good to be back home!!! I can't WAIT to make some new dishes from RFFE!!!

Actually, I was *TRYING* to *SNEAK* up to Maine to see Alissa and pop in on Okorolina's Class!!!! But, alas...I was not able to make it!!! It's been such a LONG workweek for me...and I am super exhausted!!!!!! I haven't been able to post at ALL!!! So, I went back in the thread and tried to catch everyone's comments:

Quote Originally Posted by whoa-raw View Post

That is SUPER GREAT!!! I'm so glad that you like them as much as I do!!!!

Hi Shona!!! I'm so sorry that your question got lost in the thread!!! Thanks Whoa-Raw for answering...yea, I'm inclined to agree... About 1/2 are dehydrated recipes... But, you know what? If I didn't have a dehydrator, I would STILL make some of the recipes that called for it because you CAN refrigerate some things to solidify them!!! And, you CAN eat some things as a pate!!! Now, things like the Papaya Steak, you might get by with refrigeration, but of course it's gonna be heaps better in the dehydrator. Some have tried to use the oven, but that wouldn't work very well for me... You know Shona, I got my first Dehydrator from Walmart for $40...! And, some have gotten theirs from thrift stores and garage sales! So, keep your eyeballs peeled...

Hi Luna! Thanks!!! Being on the Radio was so much FUN!!!

As far as ingreadients...honestly, I don't think it's as much as you might think... I don't buy meat anymore... I don't buy processed food anymore. My family does eat some SAD from time to time when DH buys it, but for the most part they eat waht I eat. I also make 1/2 recipes! Sometimes, I'll even 1/2 the 1/2!!! AND, I don't even REMEMBER the last time I was sick!!! I mean, really sick... So, I haven't needed to go to the Doctor or buy meds...so, that's money used for Raw ingredients!

Hey Marcel....make your OWN photo album of the meals you make from Alissa's book! That's what I did! :-D I know what you mean about seeing the "professional" version, but your food is what YOU make it to be... Just follow the guidelines and make it YOUR own...:-)

How COOL is THAT!!!! I am SO excited for you!!! Yea, I love pictures too! The Sliders are SUPER AWESOME!!! One of my favorites for sure!!! Your menu sounds GREAT... With the exception of Onion Bread, I'm trying to stick to RFFE in my recipes, though...especially for this thread...;)

Yea, that's what I get... I use what I can get and I don't sweat the "small" stuff...

AAAAHHHH Snoops!!! Don't be that way! Woo...Woo...Woo!!! It's O.K.!!! There are a few photos, but I like that when I make a recipe it comes out the way "I" want it to...not trying to fit what I'm making into what someone elses looks like... Hey, make your OWN book! Show people what YOUR food looks like! So what if it's not exactly like Grezzo's! I don't think that's Alissa's point...if it was, she would have put every photo in there...:)

Meeeeee TOOOOO Terry!!! Just have plenty of RAW on hand for him to nibble on...I mean, *FILL* your Dehydrator with the "easy" stuff from Alissa's book: Fruit Leather, Star Anise Papaya Steak, great start with the Onion Rings, you know...things like that...

Let your Oldest Son taste the Corn Chowder! It's quick, easy, and delicious! Most broccoli haters LOVE it! KUDDOS to Hubby! Hey, my DH LOVES Alissa's Collard Roll (from LOLF)...you should make that for yours! My DH always eats *2* when I make it!!!

    Welcome back Renee!

The enchiladas were great! The tortillas were so easy and yummy!

I decided to use just raspberries for the middle layer of the angelfood cake instead of jam, which turned out delicious and makes this cake a breeze to make. The cake is very sweet so the tartness of the plain raspberries was a great match. I also put some coconut on top of the cake to make it more white instead of light brown. Plus, I LOVE coconut. Thumbs way up for this recipe. It is super easy. I put it in the dehydrator before bed and this morning made the quick frosting. I cut the pieces and froze each separately with some extra raspberries for my lunches this week. Happy.

    Today the Calzones.

QUESTION: I froze some of the enchilladas. Do I have to thaw all the way before putting it in the dehydrator next time I eat this, and does that ruin the texture or make it really soggy?

    Hi Janice!!!

I'm so glad your Enchaladas came out great for you! I've actually never froze them before...I've kept them in the fridge & had leftovers, but not froze...

The Calzones are great to freeze...I just go from Freezer to Dehydrator a few hours B4 I wanna eat. I'd probably do that for the Enchaladas too...though neither are gonna be exactly the same the 2nd time around...

You're doing SO great! I wish we could do a potluck! Boy, that would be a HOTTT ticket!!!!! :)

Now that is an awesome idea! :)

Thanks for your comments, Renee. I don't mind my raw foods in fresh form - I get to eat them quicker! I can see how a dehydrator would be useful for some things. I keep my eyes open when I'm out and about, but I haven't come across one yet. Someday ...

    Hi ReneeH,

that's what I'm doing and I provide all my non-raw friends with it via facebook.

Like I said, the book is wonderful and I just can ecourage everyone to buy it, so many inspirations.
X-mas is save now, because I will make a 3plates menu for 5 people, because one of my lovely sisters in law is visiting us from Mexico in Germany.

Thanks Renee! I am afraid to keep these as leftovers too long because of the long dehydration time and worry about it going bad pretty quick, so I froze some. Plus, it is just me that eats these and I can't keep up with all the food :)

The Calzones came out INCREDIBLE! YUM!!! I was very skeptical about the curry but used it anyway and it is great. So glad I tried this and it came out perfect first time around... great recipe! Thanks to all who talked it up :)

How FUNNY!!! I thought the same thing the first time I made it...I was NOT a Curry fan...as a matter of fact, I left it out and hated the Calzone! Then, about a year later I made it again WITH the Curry and now I can't live without it!!!

Here's my FAVORITE Photo of my Calzone: (As you can see, I make mine a LOT smaller than Alissa makes hers, but it Dehydrates faster and it's more managable for me...

Right now, I'm making some Nori Crackers...YUMMM!!! Photos soon!

Great photo! I halved the bread and forgot to half the insides, so mine was really full. I won't forget next time, but it turned out delicious! I used chantrelles and brocolini... mmm. I ran out of olive oil so used coconut butter for the mixed veggies. It tasted fab with the curry. It was that or no oil, and I might just keep it this way in the future because it was so good. It might help it keep its shape better in the fridge because the coconut butter hardens so much? We'll see.

I'll definitely have to try it with the Coconut!!!

Alissa does hers pretty full too...here's the photo of Alissa's from Class:

Here's Alissa cutting the "finished" Calzone in Class... As you can see, hers is pretty thick and she makes it in a 1/2 moon shape (as she says in the book) and makes slices of it for everyone... I do mine like RawKnitster does hers because it's just more practical for me...

    Here's what I made today:

Nori Crackers (I put the Sesame Seeds on the top...):

    Then, I cut them:

But, now I see why Alissa put the seeds in the Batter....they fell off!!! LOL!!!

These are SOOOO Good!!! Surprised me, actually!!! I didn't expect to like it!!!! But, I honestly couldn't stop "nibbling"!!!!

    Mushroom Pate:

The Mushroom Pate was good...not crazy about the texture, though...I suppose when I refrigerate it, it will firm up more for me... I had it with the Carrot & Celery Sticks and I had Alissa's Flax Crackers with it too...

Oh, I put some Candied Pecans on it...YUMMMMM!!!!
