Default malabsorbtion of fats-burping like crazy!

    Hi!
I am new to the raw food diet, and I was wondering if anyone has some info. on what's going on with all the burping I do when I have flax seed oil, or hemp oil? What does it mean? What can I do to change? Do I keep eating them? I have such dry skin, I really need to get some healthy fats in me and I'm not sure I want to burp my way there! Right now, I'm rubbing my hands in cocoanut oil and sleeping with nitril gloves on!

Pharmacist Ben, on the radio, just told me that I couldn't be serious about eating Avocado's to help my situation. But on the raw food diet, what else is available for EFA's? Currently, I am eating green smoothies 3x's a day for the next two weeks to see what happens. Any pointers is appreciated!

Flax seeds are good for dry skin. Try 1-2 tablespoons of freshly ground flax seeds a day instead of the oil.

a lot of times the burping occurs if the oil has gone rancid..... which happens quite easily, especially with flax. i would try buying the seeds and grinding them yourself for maximum freshness.... that way you can smell the seeds before buying to see if they have a fishy odor

Well, I can't diagnose you, but there are a few directions I'd like to point you in:

    1. Seeking evaluation and treatment from a qualified herbalist, naturopathic physician, or Traditonal Chinese Medicine practitioner (acupuncurist who also uses herbs, or Doctor of Oriental Medicine.) You are no doubt having a significant digestive system problem that would benefit from treatment. This is my most important suggestion!

    2. Reduce the amount of fat in your diet to ease digestion in the meantime. No use eating the fats if you can't absorb them properly.

    3. Drink green smoothies (per Victoria Boutenko's method----just greens, fruit, and water. No superfoods, fats, or supplements!) This may help increase your HCL levels and aid in digestion of fats.

    4. I would consider that your gallbladder may need support. Do NOT do any crazy cleanses (especially the one that involves drinking lots of olive oil) but consider drinking lots of very strong organic chamomile tea. This should not replace getting evaluated and treated by a practitioner but could be a measure to use while you wait for your appointment.

    5. Digestive enzymes might also be a good stopgap measure until you can receive proper treatment.

    Good luck,
    Melanie
