Default something i blended up today

bananas are a currently a staple food in my diet - as far as raw foods go you can't do much better in terms of calories per dollar, plus they taste good and blend easily.

so i am looking at a banana and thinking - what will i blend it with today ? and then it hit me - NUTS !

so i took 2 ripe bananas, 1/2 cup of raw almonds, about an ounce of grape seed oil, maybe 3 or 4 oz water and ( don't kill me for this ! ) one measuring cup of "vanilla bean torte" flavor syntrax nectar whey protein.

then i blended it all for about 40 seconds. ( well, i blended the almonds first etc, but once it was all mixed together i blended it all for about 40 seconds )

    WOW

it came out AWESOME. i finished all of it in a blink of an eye and then spent some more time scraping the remainder off of the bottom of the carafe.

it was sweet, creamy and the flavor was great.

not really sure if this will work without the whey protein ... it tends to impart that chewy creaminess. maybe you could substitute raw eggs or something i dunno.

a word of caution - my blender was pulling 9.5 amps on 60% speed setting as i was blending this stuff. don't burn out your blender.

I know what you mean about the protein powder. I use it in my morning fruit smoothie, not because I am worried about protein but because it gives it a thickness that is missing without it.

    Your concoction sounds good.

Have you tried Hemp Protein Powder? It is raw, organic, vegan, and delicious. To balance the Omega 6, I add a Tbs of flax meal.

I haven't tried that. Isn't it green though. At least the one I've seen was. That would totally ruin my morning strawberry and blueberry smoothie!! I did try the vegan alternative of the type I use - I think it was rice based and I had to throw the whole thing out it was so gross.

I know this isn't very "raw" of me and all but at least I am getting three servings of fruit for brekkie!!

I use the hemp protien. I think you have to get used to it. It does have a grainy texture. It doesn't taste bad though. Much prefer the hemp seeds for taste. Made a big banana, chocolate, smoothie with hemp protien this morning. YUMMY!
