Vitamix, Green Power, Flour Mill?... comparisons please~
Time for a new appliance. right now I use a champion...
I want to be able to finely grind dehydrated, shredded yams/potatoes into a flour... for mashed potatoes... (*add water and avo = mashed pots)
... as well as powdering some dried herbs AND very tiny seeds - such as sesame or flax.
the champion's blades, of course, miss the tiny seeds -so they basically come out whole...
and my coffee grinder finally went kaput! it only lasted 9 months, it was too cheapish~
So my question is, what processor is best for fine grinding dried friuts/vegetables into
potato/onion/garlic/tomato/pepper/citrus/coconut/ginger- powder
AND tiny seeds, like flax and sesame into flour?
How are those flour mills working out for those of you who have them? Are they just for grain?
- I also need a quality blender - do any appliances do both?
thanks for any comments you may have to offer ~ :)

The Vita Mix will do all of that, and you don't need the grain grinder attachment container.
I grind flax into meal in seconds in my wet Vita Mix container.
I also have other things that I can use to grind things, but if it's just a 1/2 cup or so, then I use my grinders, but if it's 1 or more cups I use my Vita Mix
I would definitely use this appliance, as a grinder and blender, smoothie maker, nut butter maker, smooth sauce maker, pate' maker, etc.
I love mine, had it for about 10 years now. Still works perfectly.

good to hear! I've been leaning toward that brand. what is the model that you use, Vitamix 500 ? I think they have good warranty service too. So is $450. a good price? - I think that's what I recall them to cost.

there is a Vita Mix, 4500 with only two speeds, and a Vita Mix 5000 with many speeds, I paid about $369 for mine. Often Costco has them on sale around Christmas, or you can often buy them at State fairs, which are going on right now.
I think Alissa sells them on her website, go to the top of the page, and click on the farthest left square, that says "Books, DVDE, etc." and check on her website.
But you will be happy that you bought it, I love mine.
I just found this for you, this is the way to buy it from Alissa, $369 and NO shipping costs. what a deal!!!
