Default How much green juice do you drink in a day?

How much do you drink and how many times a day do you drink it? Been juicing for about 2 weeks now and I love it, just wondering how other folks drink theirs and when. Thanks :)

I drink about a pint and a half first thing in the morning.
That may seem a lot but I put a large cucumber and 4 sticks of celery in it and they generate a lot of juice.

I shoot for 1 quart. I drink it in the afternoon. I don't always get it made though. *Ü*

So I've developed a strong fondness for green juice lately. I'm typically making using celery, cucumber, apple, ginger, lemon, vitamineral green and tumeric or cayenne pepper. It seems to me based on all I've studied that there isn't much healthier stuff you can consume.

So my question is can you have too much of this stuff? :) With fruit juice I could entirely understand having too much could be bad as it would spike your insulin sky high. And if the veggies weren't organic I could understand how consuming that much pesticides, etc. But if you're consuming entirely organic and mostly all veggies (possibly a small amount of sweet fruit like apple) it doesn't seem like there's much danger in consuming a lot of juice (say 3-5 quarts a day).

I make a 32-ounce "green lemonade" juice or smoothie every morning. The smoothie is interesting as it's pretty thick, like a milk shake (without the melting) so it takes a while to drink and is quite filling.

Bizarre. All these years of eating and I know so little about food.

3-5 quarts? Umm, is that the same as 3-5 litres? That's a whole lot of green juice! (Very jealous - I miss my juicer! We will be reunited in a couple of weeks when I get home from college ) Hehe do you have room to eat much else??

Many authors recommended to start out with 1 ounce per day for two to three weeks and then to move up to 2 ounces per day. Then if more wheatgrass or barley grass juice is desired, wait another two to three weeks to increase one more ounce. Then wait another two to three weeks to go for four ounces.
Some people like one ounce per day, some like two ounces per day and believe it or not some like four ounces or more per day. Most people do not take more than 2 ounces at one time, as it is very potent.

I start out my day with citrus juice .. 8-16 ounces ... then have green smoothie mid morning to mid day ... around 16 ounces ... then have veggie juice in the rest of the day ...

my citrus usually consists of grapefruit, orange, pineapple, grapes, kiwi,
my green smoothie usually consists of spinach, kale, romaine, apple, frozen banana, pineapple, black grapes and water.

My veggie juice usually consists of tomatoes, sweet pepper, carrot, celery, beet, apple, bit of jalapeno pepper, bit of onion, kale stalks.

I don't actually eat a lot of solid foods -- depends on the season. I munch on flax crackers when I'm driving or reading, sometimes with an onion or hummus dip. I sometimes make romaine wraps with dip, chopped veggies and sprouts. In winter I'll make a batch of alissa's raw chili.
I always have sprouts going tho .. and to tend to graze on them a lot during the day.
    Cheers
    Terry

Default I make 2 liters of green smoothie in morning

I make a smoothie (in Blendtec juicer) and drink all day. try to finish by 6pm.

usually has about 1 # of greens (kale, collards, spinach, romaine plus occasioanl parsley/cilantro/mint) an apple, cucucmber or celery and at least one lemon, orange or grapefruit ( adds sweet but the antioxidant power keps it fressh all day.

it is started in a base of 2-3 cups water and couple Tbs of good omega oil.

Well - if you are talking GREEN JUICE from LEAFY GREENS - ie, Kale, spinach, chard, parsley, Kale, and then through in some cucumber and celery and a bit of roots like beet and carrot and maybe an apple or two .. and do one gallon a day for 40 days - then tell me how you feel.

I did it - it is AMAZING ... Dark Leafy Green juice is one of the most challenging things to do on a daily basis .. and when done .. the health benefits are astounding. I have NEVER heard of any doctor telling someone -- , "wow way too much leafy greens .. better cut down on that " NEVER. So .. if you do it .. would love to hear what your EXPERIENCE is .. as I know what mine was ..

I have just started "juicing" but doing it in a blender - not a purpose juicer eg like greenstar etc.
    I am wondering two things:
-How much produce should go in/ is everyone consuming per day. When you say __pints/ quarts I'm not sure if that is with any water you added in.
-Also, I have been using apples and adding water too. I heard that this is not a good combination as apples contain cyanide. I think it is in the pips and the combination is apparently not good. I'm pretty fuzzy on the chem. It is a very small amount and it is mainly in the pips but I still wonder what the best thing to do for optimum health is not just what is natural blah blah

Unless you have kidney problems.....too many oxalates may cause a problem. (Oxcalates are found in green leafys and other fruits and veg) I have a birth defect in my kidneys that causes problems sometimes. When I feel my kidney start to swell, I back off the greens. Personally I have to watch how much kale I consume because of the fact I am allergic to sulfur. When I first started juicing I did a bunch of kale in a juice and woke up the next morning with BURNING RED EYES. It happened a few more times. did some research and I finally made the connection. But that's just me. Pay attention to your body when you introduce new things to it. You'll be able to tell what is right for you I would think. :)

    Poison is in the doseage!
