Vegetable Juicing "High?"
Not necessarily the good kind either. After reading some articles about the body's pH and potential imbalances, I plunged right in to vegetable mixing highly alkalizing foods. I used dark greens right out of the gate (kale, spinach, parsley, and the like--also a few carrots, celery and an apple for taste). Then I added Macca, Flax, and Chlorella to boot.
All set, I started sipping. I didn't mind it all, in fact I liked it. About half way in though, I started feeling funny... My body felt heavy and my jaw felt slow. My hands were weak. I kept holding them out and looking at them, to see if this effect was really happening. It was. I called my girlfriend and found it hard to speak to her. I was dizzy when I stood up too. Walking around the house I felt like I was floating. It was a "spacey" feeling. Coming up or down the stairs more than once, I just said "Whoa." I mean, there's just no question something was going on in my body as a consequence of the raw juice (and within 20 minutes). I can honestly say the experience was not unlike that of a mild marijuana or mushroom high (no, I'm not a heavy or frequent drug user--but I do know what the experience is like: I did go to college :) ).
Any insight into this? I know I haven't offered all the information. I suffer from chronic sinusitis and that's what has lead me here. I often suspect I'm a fairly toxic body, despite being in decent health on the whole. Some have suggested candida overgrowth. I'm familiar enough with Herxhemier and do wonder...
This was all yesterday and I woke up dead tired this morning with a very stuffy nose. I did some yoga, oil pulled, neti pot and got myself on my feet, but it was not easy.
Today, I just finished my second round of juice. Same effect more or less. I tried less juice, but still probably had several ozs. In fact I'm still coming down, I'd say. I feel markedly less eloquent. Pretty much out of it. I might take a nap.
Well I hope this hasn't been too long, I really would like to hear some feedback on this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have used all of the products that you have listed and experienced no ill effects.
Have you repeated this or any other mix.
There is sufficient in the world for man's need, but not for his greed.
I'm not 100% raw but I am trying to get myself there and so far I have gone four days 100% raw, a couple days 80% raw then back to 100% for as long as i can, been going back and forth for a couple of weeks ... the first few days that I very first tried to go raw, I got a similar effect with green smoothies and especially if I used a lot of fruit, not as bad as it seems you are having the high effect though and I almost seemed shaky like I was on some serious mass amount of energy drinks. The shakiness/light-headedness went away after a couple hours. I think it could have been a little bit of a detox effect or maybe that I was consuming too many sweet fruits all at once that I wasn't quite used to? However, after the first few times of this happening it wore off, I haven't experienced that feeling since the initial start of the diet.
Don't know if my experience has anything to do with what you are going through or not but hopefully it stops happening for you too! Good luck figuring that one out :)
I'm thinking that my strange sensations were due to the chlorella. I'm not sure whether I just don't tolerate it well or if taking causes me massive and immediate detox, but it's likely to be the culprit. I made some more juice without any additives and it went down without any trouble. I've added back Maca, Flax and Hemp without trouble, and am --after some recovery--going to try chlorella again to test the hypothesis. Thanks to those of you who responded to my strange query. I appreciate your time and consideration.
Certain food supplements, such as any green powders, you may need to start off in very small quantities.
Let me tell you, that was exactly what my first experience was when i took chlorella tablets, a little goes a long way and i learned the hard way. Greens they get you high, but a natural high. It is because of all the oxygen they give off.
With the juicing off all those greens but then adding the supplements i think you over oxygenized your body and it wasn't ready for it. It makes you want to sit and not move not speak, partly because you can't move or speak.
My recommendation try a lighter juice first, definitely take out all the added supplements, go for either a carrot and romaine juice (kinda tastes like chocolate milk) or do a kale, celery, lemon, and ginger. For juicing its good to use a lighter sweeter green as your main base and then add the dark greens and other stuff to it kinda like adding seasonings when cooking. So use more celery then kale, it should be a really pretty green. If you're juices are too dark you'll know they could be too strong, but too light is not strong enough.
Try that for a few days and it might make you feel better, you'll feel the good effects of the juicing and the nice high rather then the paralyzing detoxing feeling.
The more you clean out your body the more stuff you can add, just start less and work up to more. You don't want to over detox your body which causes you to take all the waste you've awakened and just re-pollute your body because too much was raised too fast.
This is just someone speaking who went through the same exact experience as you.
btw::: i wrote this while sipping on my morning juice aka my green lemonade :)

like that recipe...
i like vegetable...
thank u for ur share..
It seems our other dear posters have missed the main issue, that you still occasionally use drugs, this IS STRONGLY discouraged here. So you need to cease ALL drugs. Even once you have stopped, marijuana is still stored in your fatty tissues years later on so that when you start exercising/lose weight/detoxing with a green drink it is released back into your system. That IS the explanation for the similarities of your experience. Continue with the green drinks though and your body WILL clean itself out. It's up to you, you must really want to do this to succeed.

You're harshing my mellow...
I know I get a very odd feeling when I have too much green. very odd.
20 years ago, when I ate ZERO veggies/fruit, I would get an odd/high-like feeling when I would eat a bowl of homeade chicken-veggie soup.
My guess is, my body doesn't isn't used to 'clean' foods. Plain lettuce and spinach used to make me throw up. Greens give me that same feeling. ONE tiny Kale leaf in my morning drink will give me the same feeling.
I'm hoping I can overcome this slowly.
