Default Wheatgrass in Omega 8004 (8006)

I recently got an Omega 8004 (same as 8006 but in white) which I'm using and enjoying very much. I had in mind to grow and use wheatgrass in it 'soon', so when I saw some 4"x4" wheatgrass containers at the market I decided to get one to give it a try. Well, I was a bit disappointed in the results so I'm wondering if there's something I should've done differently.

The main problem was that there was a lot of foam and it stayed up in the juicer. When I disassembled the machine for cleaning, I was surprised by it. It was really a good bit of wet and foamy stuff there that didn't make in down into my cup (like the foam blocked some of it from running down), and there wasn't much in the cup either. Is all that foam in the juicer typical? How much wheatgrass should I expect to put through to get an ounce of juice? (btw, I did run the pulp through a second time)

    Thanks! :)

I can't help, but I hope someone helps you because I have the same type of juicer and was thinkng of growing my own wheatgrass.....if it doesn't work.....I'll just buy the raw grass powders....but they are expensive and I think growing my own would be more cost effective.

My only suggestion would be to contact the company, maybe they can help you out. Please post back if figure it out!

Michael Bergonzi, Greenhouse Manager at Hippocrates Health Institute, the guy who grows more wheatgrass then anyone, used a manual Healthy Juicer to juice 200 oz in 2 days (some kind of record?).

Young kids and old people can use this juicer easy enough.

You can get these for about $45 or read all the way down his page and he gives a link where you can get one for free if you order wheatgrass. Either way your body will love it!

For the record I am not affiliated with any of these people (not even in the same country, continent or hemisphere actually!). But I do enjoy my morning wheatgrass.

About wheatgrass power... I have heard that the fresh juice will accomplish in one week what the power takes 1 year to do. there are 25 live enzymes in the fresh juice - zero in the power!

I have an Omega 8005 (similar, different auger) and juice wheatgrass in it daily. Before this I had a Miracle electric wheatgrass juicer and would say the yield is comparable. Not sure how dense the wheatgrass was in the tray you bought but I either grow my own (12" x 21" planting tray) or buy a 17" sq. tray from a farmer's market. I juice into a 4oz. measuring glass instead of the Omega pitcher for ease and, while I do get a little foam, it's not excessive and about the same as Jamba Juice gets with their dedicated wheatgrass juicer.

With the last 17" sq. tray I got twelve 1-1/2 oz. servings:

With my own I get 8 ounces per tray, which works well as the trays are broken up into 8-sections:

Bizarre. All these years of eating and I know so little about food.

    Visorblue,
Your pics are extremely helpful - much thanks to you! That you're using your omega daily gives me great hope. I'm now thinking that I probably didn't run enough grass through my juicer. The grass I had wasn't as tall as yours. I'll have to look out for larger flats, too.

Glad it was of help. I like my Omega. Like I mentioned I had a Miracle electric wheatgrass juicer for wheatgrass and a Champion for other juices. I quickly tired of cleaning two juicers every morning and the Champion wasn't easy to clean and heated the juice. Sold both and got the Omega and couldn't be happier. Even used a friend's Green Star which is nice but I much prefer my Omega and plan to wear it out. :-)

Wheatgrass is cheap and pretty easy to grow. Oh, and I do run the grass through twice.

Bizarre. All these years of eating and I know so little about food.
