    Default Got my Hurom, quick review

    I got my Hurom today and already made close to 3 liters of different juices.

    Firstly I was impressed that even large fat carrots completely auto feed into the juicer and juice quickly and the pusher isn't needed at all, with the green star fat carrots had to be pressed in with a lot of force and even then they entered and juiced very slowly.

    Speaking of carrot, I'm a bit dissapointed with how pulpy the carrot juice from this machine is but on the positive side it means fiber makes it into the juice which makes it healthier. I must say I'm used to the super pulp free juice of the green start which is thin like water. I could always strain it but I'd rather get the fiber and save time.

    What impressed me the most is the speed of every step of using this juicer, as I said practically everything self feeds so the pusher is almost never needed (it's needed for things that won't fall into the chute like spinach leaves but even then you can just push them down with a carrot or other solid food). Secondly the juice is extracted very quickly, with orange/grapefruit juice it pours out like pouring it out of a bottle, it's even faster than the manufacturer's video show (after all she feeds one tiny piece at a time using only one hand in the video).

    Clean up is also very fast, the first time was slower as I had to learn where all the holes/slots where pulp gets in are. The top, auger and auto cleaning brush get clean with a simple rinse under running water. The bowl needs the end of the cleaning brush to empty the pulp discharge tube and the filter is cleaned in seconds with the brush.

    It's so fast that including the time to peel the oranges, I was able to peel oranges, juice them and clean the machine completely all that in under 5 minutes! This would easily be around 10-15 minutes to do the same with the Green Star.

    I'll be able to make juice in the morning before leaving for school now! Something I wouldn't even have dreamt of with the green star.

    Another small negative other than the pulpiness of carrot juice (I find the citrus juices much less pulpy and very acceptable, I always use the fine screen by the way) is that again with carrots I can squeeze a bit of juice out of the pulp while the green star got everything out. I can run the pulp through the juicer again to get a bit more out though. However with orange/grapefruit juice I wasn't able to squeeze anything out of the pulp.

    I'm really glad I sold my Green Star to get this juicer and would highly recommend it.

    Ahh - I've seen them use this juicer on The Raw Food World youtube videos and they said they always strain it in a nut milk bag since they like their juice pulp free.

    I'm glad you're so happy with it. If I'm ever able to get a new juicer, I'll probably get this or the VRT. *Ü*

    Geez, I was hoping that carrot juice and apple juice would not be pulpy.

    I'll be getting min soon, and will also report here.

    I really liked my Jack LaLanne (similar to the Breville - a centrifugal juicer --not good for greens) because it would crank out apple juice or carrot juice that was relatively pulp free. I just gave it away! Maybe I should have waited There's a 30-day return policy.

    I just made 2 other juices this morning before leaving for school, the juice of one grapefruit and a carrot/spinach/cilantro juice. The carrot juice was less pulpy this time and I didn't re run the pulp through, I think this is what made it so puply yesterday, probably because the pulp is already finely ground so it more easily goes through the filter.

    I'd still by far prefer the juice of the hurom than a centrifugal juicer, don't forget tons of nutrition is lost with centrifugal juicers plus they extract far less juice from the product. If you want it really pulp free simply run the juice through a strainer.
