Question this may be an extraordinarily stupid question...

    but here it is:

I'm a huge fan of frozen fruit smoothies, but have realized a lot of pre-frozen fruits are spiked with corn syrup and other preservatives. If I buy fresh fruit and then freeze it myself, is it still considered "raw"? same question with self-dried fruits.

    thanks,

    yellow

I've heard mixed reviews. I freeze bananas on occasion, to make icecream. I would NOT be so concerned with it. Freeze your own fruit to get it as close to raw as you can, and relax - eat raw - and live. ;)

It is perfectly okay, as freezing has little effect on enzymes. Cooking kills the enzymes, but freezing is ok. Most frozen grocery store fruit is okay, too-as they cant' blanch it or heat it or else it would deteriorate.

Dehydrating your own fruit/veg is perfectly okay, as long you keep it under 114 degrees (or so). So many wonderful creations can be made using a dehydrator to cook things at this low heat.

So many questions are answered in Alissa's book Living on Live Foods--you can buy it off of this site or amazon/ebay,too. It is a great way to learn the basics of raw, and it's like you have your own personal live food coach. Which, by the way, exist if you need extra help.

Ask away! We all welcome curiousity around here!=)
