    Default Leaky Gut

    Hello Raw Friends,
Is any one familar with leaky gut syndrome?
Seems I have it. Which explains the symptoms I have been having for almost a year.
I have been 100 percent raw for 4 months. The symptoms are the reason I went raw.
My chiropractor gave me some supplements which should work.

Hi - I don't know if I have leaky gut, but suspect I might. Do you find that raw is helping? (I'm new to raw - day 5!)

Every thing has improved since going raw!!!(almost 4 months!!)
I have various symptoms that prompted me to go raw. I have felt much better, but still have some of the symptoms.
Soooooo, I need to fine tune a bit I think.
Perhaps the supplements my chiropractor gave me will be enough!!!

    Congrats on going raw!!!

Try blending your foods. I healed my IBD on blending my foods. I fell off the raw life and have returned and when I was off so was my IBD but on raw foods my IBD is back in check.

Have you been checked for food sensitivities as well, Terry? With leaky gut, incompletely digested food proteins get into the blood stream where antibodies to them are then formed. This is very taxing on the immune system. These antibodies then cause problems, especially when the problem foods are again ingested and the undigested proteins are leaked into the bloodstream again. You can have a delayed immune response similar to an allergic reaction because of the antibodies. Instead of an immediate reaction as in a true allergy, it come on over a period of a few hours to a few days time. Muscle and joint pain from the undigested proteins (seen as invaders) and the byproducts of the body trying to eliminate them can be depositied in joint or other body tissue, and irritation and inflammation around the body, even cerebral responses (brain fog, neuro symptoms) can be had.

University of Maryland for one, has also found the blood/brain barrier can be similarly affected due to leaky gut, as is the intestinal wall integrity. I believe this is why medications sent me on a whirlwind of terrible side effects, while I was still trying to get to the bottom of my problems.

    Thanks, great information!
I just recived a book from amazon One Cause many Ailments/Leaky Gut Syndrome by John Pagano

It is a wealth of information and from what I gather MANY illnesses have their root in LGS.

Hopefully with the supplements and a few diet changes I will be good as new soon!!!

I don't personally have any insight, but I asked my dad and step-mom (both nurses) if they could shed some insight or recommend some books or websites....next day or 2? My best to you!
