    Default Vietnamese Vegetable Peeler

A while back, I stumbled across a post that mentioned a Vietnamese vegetable peeler - I would love to buy one and have googled every possible combination of terms I can think of, but to no avail.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

Default Another type of julienne peeler

Hi! I just wanted to tell you about another julienne peeler that I LOVE..Pampered Chef makes a julienne peeler that works beautifully with all veggies!! I don't know if you are looking for this Japanese peeler to do this or the other things...but after watching that video, I could see myself cutting my hand with it!

I use the Deli Pro Pro Knife (it's very sharp and has a cutting guide and is only $9.99) to slice veggies (& fruit) VERY thin. Then I'll use the PC julienne peeler to cut other veggies to make veggie sushi/salad veggies/spring rolls. It works great! Just wanted to share this in case you haven't seen either of these tools before! Happy cutting!:)

Only in your imagination. I've got two. Never cut myself... not even close. Not even sure it's possible.

The Cai Bao is actually very safe to use, however I wasn't very impressed with it. Maybe I need to learn special peeler skills or something to make it work. I prefer my simple OXO Swivel peeler which does everything and is relatively safe.

I love kitchen gadgets as well and when I saw a fruit vendor using it to peel melons and mangoes with pure ease I asked him about it but forgot all about it for a while. When I came upon your post I started googling to find out more about this Cai Bo. I think in Vietnam it must be named something else which is why it was so difficult to find. However, today my bf and I took a trip to a 99Ranch Market Asian Market in Cupertino, CA and found one hanging of the hook for a mere $2.00. This find made my day, and while their I also came up on some star fruit and dragon fruit as well as korean melons, mangoes, and $2 pineapples..Super RAd ! So, I guess the moral is of the story is make sure to check out/ do a YELP search for Thai/Vietnamese/Cambodian markets in your area.
    xoxo, K

Thanks katacykls! I'll check out the relatively close 99 Ranch Market next time I'm over that way. Nice find!

I live very close to a 99 Ranch Market as well, but I went ahead and ordered it here: http://www.ubraw.com/?gclid=CNrhrZ-C_ZgCFQpuGgodP2cJlg

I like the instant gratification of purchasing online!

The Cai Bao arrived yesterday - have not used it yet, but plan to julienne some veggies tonight.

My husband thinks it looks dangerous, and I do tend to cut myself a lot, but I am trusting Revvell on this one

revdrcyn- I hope you love and enjoy your tool. I started using mine as soon as I got it. I used it to peel some mangoes and I've been going wild peeling honeydew melons as well as cantaloupes. I feel like the professional fruit vendor I talked about before; there is a very earthy feel to this Cai Bao tool-that's for sure. Tell us how you like it.
