    Default What is this??

This past week I've been able to begin trail walking/hiking. We only go about 3 milies and we're finished.

Not long into the quick walk, though, my hands begin to fill up with fluid to the point that they are turning white in some places. They're hard to close, and they begin to ache up into my forearms.

Today, this happened a bit in my face.

Does anyone have any idea why my body is doing this?

I've known that I needed to divest myself of all of this water retention I've taken on from SAD and from diabetes/hypogly.. but.. sheeeeeeeeeesh!

hey renee, sounds like lymphatic fluid. THis happens to me when I hike too, espicially if Im carrying a pack, which seems to restrict body fluid movement even more so.

I wonder if someone knowledegable could enlighten us as to why.

    Default don't know..

sorry to say but I don't know what it is..but I have experienced myself also a few times...it might be a coincidence but I also used to get it while I was outside exercising, i.e. 3 mile quick walk. Its never happened during indoor exercise; I just assumed it was my body unable to break a sweat, maybe due to the low intensity of the exercise or the outdoor temps...

LOL@Rev and Wally Walrus Hands - but there's something about your face looking like that.. ya know?

I did notice that last night, after I'd been on my feet for a long time, I took off my socks for a shower. I looked down - my ankles had swelled and there was a deep recess where my socks were as opposed to where they weren't.

So - who knows a RAW way of removing excess water from your body?

Dry skin brushing and rebounding should both be good

Parsley and celery are easy! I can do that right away....
But I don't have a skin brush, just skin gloves for exfoliation.

Where did you get your brushes?

Rebounding - you mean the mini-tramp?

I got my brush in the fifth pharmacy that I tried and started brushing twice a day. Then I purchased the T Tap tapes (which included a brushing tape) and found that there was a right way to brush. If you get a brush and want to start I will try to write out the correct way to do it so let me know.

    Default Wally Hands!

Revvell, you are so darn funny! I get them too. I know that i keep hanging on to fluids. I can see it particularly in the soft spot below my knees. I feel like I keep a gallon in there. I've been reading the rebounding threads and am eyeing the Urban Rebounder on HSN.com. I've never seen their show, but was surprised to read here that they even have a website! I'm really behind on all this.

I just recently bought a skin brush at WFM for $7.99- I'm amazed! I love it! why wasn't I doing this a long time ago. Anyway, I think I'm doing it right... long strokes toward the heart, right?

    ReneeSC,

my hands turn (extremely) white too, but it may be different - it mostly happens when my hands get cold. It can be very scary, but it sounds like you are on the path to fixing an issue like this. I wish you well!

    Yes
You do between 4 and 8 strokes in each area starting with the soles of your feet and working upwards. Include the backs of the knees and both upwards and sideways in your armpit.
