Anyone Have Any Good Raw Vegan Recipies?
I have been working on raw for about a week now and I have really enjoyed it. Kept things simple, fruits and salads. I've loved it but I realized that the thing I have missed the most is COOKING the food! For a 15 year old girl, I have a wicked passion for cooking. Its been....painful for me to not cook my food anymore. I don't miss the food. Just preparing it. So i figured maby I could try some more complicated raw food recipies to fill that need. Ha its a little funny that a chef like me who depends on cooking is haveing to learn to UNcook her food! anyway any good recipies or thoughts would be appreciated!

Do you have any raw books.
What are you preparing now. Do you do any smoothies or pies or ice cream.
If you google "raw food recipes" you will get lots of results. There are numerous sites with them.

Thanks, I have found some really good looking recipies that sound good to try. Is there a particular recipie that y'all really like? I would love to try making something that people like. Maby if I do a good job my SAD family won't be so down on my raw lifestyle.:)

One of my fave meals is to chop about 4 nice apples (but they have to be nice flavourful ones) and add some thick cream made from macadamia, almonds or cashews. If it is cashews they I like to grate the rind of a lemon in to it using a fine grater.

Think of a SAD food that you miss, and do a search for it on here. You'll be surprised at the many awesome recipes there are! Especially the raw desserts. Raw desserts are unlike any other. Very tasty and very healthy! My favorite is chocolate pudding. It's simple though, so it may not satisfy your complicated recipe desire. You could try a raw cheesecake.

Except I kept out the raspberries since they're out of season and more expensive. I also used cashews instead of walnuts since I happened to have them. It's a different taste, but still awesome!

Do you have a dehydrator? If so, here is one of my favorites:
3 cups sprouted wheat berries
1 cup onion
1 cup orange
a handful of parsley (1/4 cup?)
a handful of cilantro
dash sea salt
dash cayenne
blend ingredients together in the food processor. Dehydrate in dehydrator for 10-16 hours. If you don't have a dehydrator, I read in one of my raw books that you can set your oven on its lowest setting, crack the door open, and dry your recipes in there. Of course, this is going to use more electricity than a dehydrator, and may heat your product to higher than 107 degrees, which will destroy the enzymes and possibly damage the nutrients.
The result is flatbread--it's like crackers. I dry mine out in big sheets and just break them apart. They are a mainstay of my diet.
I adapted this recipe from one in Alissa's book, which I highly recommend--I've gotten three raw books so far, and hers is by far my favorite. SO worth it. It has other crackers and tons of spreads, not to mention desserts and pretty much anything you might get a taste for, it seems like!

Oh, and here is a spread to go with the flatbread:
Blend together roughly equal parts of water and macademia nuts. Add in an onion and blend it up some more. Dice some dill, cilantro, or whatever herb you like and mix that in by hand. Amazing.
You may have to play with the water and nut amounts a bit to find out how thick you like it. I would add less water at first, because it is easier to add more than to try to compensate for having put in too much.
I like this on flatbread with tomatoes, green or red or whatever pepper, and avocado on top...any toppings work. My nonraw husband also loves it.

for a quick snack , i take an avacado , i mash it, chop up some tomato
and grab a few leafs of roman lettuce and put the avacado and tomatoes
inside , wrap it up , and there you go !,
you can add more things if you want, i keep it rather simple sometimes

My Favorite raw corn chips:
4 1/2 cups corn
1 jalepeno
3/4 cups almond pulp
1/3 cup ground flax seeds (soaked in 1/2 cup water, 1/2 hour prior to making recipe)
3/4 cup sunflower seeds, soaked overnight
lime juice (approx. 1/2 to whole lime)
1 1/2 tsp cumin
1 tsp coriander
sea salt to taste
In a food processor:
Mix everything but the flax, untill you have a smooth texture.
Add flax mixture and process until mixed.
Spread thin on about 3 to 4 dehydrator sheets and score little triangles.
Dehydrate at 115 for about 6 to 8 hours and then peal off dehydrator sheets and dehydrate until crispy. Store in airtight container or zip lock in the refrigerator to remain crispy.
