    Default sunflower seed sprouting

    question....
    I just sprouted sunflower seeds and they are a weird brown pink.... they smell fine and taste like sunflower seeds... anyone know what it is.. is it a fungus.. or what.. I would love to know.... here is a picture of some..

    Well I mean they are sprouting so they have atleast an inch of life in them... if that is fungus then thats living too... I've heard that hulled sunflower seeds can sprout but can't turn into greens maybe thats the problem at hand? Iunno I'm Carlo'd get me later.

    They can turn into greens, but there's a good chance that they will rot before that. I recommend that you get seeds with shells if you want to sprout them.

    Hmmm - I've never noticed mine doing this. I sprout sunflower seeds like this all the time, then dehydrate them and keep them stored in the fridge to have on hand for recipes.

    If it was me - I'd go ahead an dehydrate them and see how they look/taste after that.

    When I buy my raw sunnes (no hulls), I store them in the freezer until I soak and dehydrate.

    Yes, if you're wanting to grow sunflower sprouts - the ones that are 3-4" long or so, I use the shells on seeds. They're two completely different processes. *Ü*
