    Default Worried

Well, i am new to this raw diet and am currently vegan. I'm just really worried about getting the nutrients that i need and having the time to cook all these meals and juggle school, so i am wondering how you guys do it. Even being vegan I'm having a really hard time and i have a hard time just eating veggies raw, even though it's really good for the body. Any suggestions, quick recipes,? Thanx, much appreciated.

I'm not a guy but I'll respond anyway ~ First of all, you're not cooking anything so, it takes even less time than you'd usually take. Secondly, the reason FOR raw is because since you're not cooking, you'll be receiving more nutrients.

There are quick recipes all OVER this board and Alissa has a GREAT book and dvd's which show you how to really create some wonderful dishes easily.

O.k., you can't prepare food and go to school too? Is that what you're saying?

I went to college full time; was in a work-study program AND worked at night and still managed to eat. Schedule your time. It's not that difficult.

I am not a guy either but I also use that term to describe everyone regardless of their sex.
If you are completely raw you need to worry less about the nutrients as your body will be able to absorb more from everything you eat when it is not being clogged up by cooked food.
If you blend your greens (in a green smoothie) you will need to take only 25% of them to get the same benefit.
There is sufficient in the world for man's need, but not for his greed.

Just listen to your body - you will notice what nutrients you need by what you are drawn to. Feel like eating lots of bananas today? Tomorrow you want tomatoes? The next day you think of how delicious apples sound? Just trust that you already know what your body wants/needs and you'll be drawn to creating good health for yourself. It's all about getting in touch with that inner part of you that is crystal clear on what it needs.

As for food prep - just find what works best for you - some people make everything the night before, others make it in the morning for the day - whatever works for YOU.

Recipes galore on this site, google, goneraw.com, alissa's book/dvd, etc.

When I am out of sorts and hungry and haven't prepared anything and am too overwhelmed to think about a recipe, that is when I fall back on either a nice big salad or a green smoothie.

    Good luck!!! :)

P.S. Worrying causes stress hormones/cortisol responses in the body - you don't need to add that to the mix. Stay confident! All the good food in the world isn't helped if you are worrying about stuff, so let that part go.....

I used fitday.com to plug in what I ate and see how the nutrient count stacked up. I made a few adjustments and added items to fill in a few nutrients. I don't bother keeping track anymore.

Kind of funny that I was ever concerned about it at all. I certainly didn't care when I was a S.A.D eater.

The nutrients I get eating a raw diet are mega-times more than I ever got on a cooked diet.
