    Wow! Staying raw during the holidays sure takes a strong will and determination, I'll tell ya that! I went to get my hair cut yesterday and the salon was full of goodies that all the stylists had brought in for the customers. It was everywhere.

    I stayed away from the sweets, but had a bit of an accident a bit later. I stopped to do some shopping and had taken a little longer than expected. I suddenly realized I was ravenous - as in get something right NOW. I went into a Mexican restaurant and ordered a house salad with dressing on the side. I fully expected to eat the salad without any dressing, which I did but used a little salsa. However, I didn't look closely at the menu and when they brought the salad it had shredded white goat cheese on it. I was so hungry I ate it anyway. I tried to push most of the cheese off to the side, but it was shredded finely. I ended up eating about 3/4 of the salad and everything else in the salad was fresh.

    So, I inadvertently had something not raw but not a lot of it.

    I'm almost through my 30 day personal challenge (as of 12/21). I won't be able to stay completely raw through the holidays as I'm leaving for Fort Lauderdale on 12/24 and will be there for over a week. But I will make every effort to stay as raw as I can during that period. Once I get there, my first stop will be for groceries - as much fruit and veggies as I can get. I will miss my Blendtec, but its not feasible for me to take it with me. I don't check backage and they won't allow the blade on the plane. No way are they taking my Blendtec away from me. So, I will have to do with a regular blender at the condo in FLL.

    Today: green smoothie (I always start my day with a green smoothie. Filling and delicious)

    s: Two apple muffins (from Alissa's recipes) with a dollop of honey on each. So good. Sprouted dried sunflower seeds.

    l: salad w/spinach, cucumber, romaine, tomato, onion w/lemon and olive oil

    the scale says I haven't dropped much weight going raw, however, I'm down a pants size and my regular clothes are almost baggy. I definitely see a change in how the clothes are fitting.

    But the best thing? I feel almost joyous. Very happy, very positive. I don't remember feeling this good for a long, long time.

    here's what i ate today.
    2 pkg dried mango
    1 lb romaine lettuce w 2c mixed berries
    1 pkg dried pineapple
    2 larabars

    i thought i was done for the day after the lettuce and berries...pretty full! but then i did a water workout/swim and felt pretty tired after so i ate the pineapple. the larabars...well that was just selfish, we went to the grocery store this evening and i was impatient to eat them.

    looked into vitamixes and blendtecs today. my hubby said if i successfully complete the 30 day challenge i will earn my right to be heard about the vitamix. from there we will probably have to create some kind of deal...what will get cut out of the budget for the year...at least it's a step in the right direction! :)

    i need to figure out a good system for measuring carbs (insulin) for fresh fruit...i know this is too much dried fruit and i will get dehydrated! i have heard about "carb factors" and i have a list...might start trying that...

    tomorrow i will be at my parents' house and need to pack some food before heading out the door. that has been a spot where i just want some "real" food- i wish i had had time and ingredients to make some entrees. oh well, i know it is selfishness and self-pity anyway and i just need to ask God to remove that.
