    Default An the saga continues...

Who am I?...better question...how did I get here?

On May 25, 2008 the day I walked at my college graduation I weighed in at 199lbs. It was the first time I had seen my mother in two years so I had already been dieting a month; I know I was over 199lbs at one point but since I never saw it on the scale I have plausable deniability

Anyway, on October 25, 2008 I decided to become a vegetarian after reading "The Skinny Bitch*" and the chapter on animal slaughtering and because I thought it was a healthier choice for my body. I don't judge people that do eat meat and more often than not they have a bigger problem with the fact that I don't than I have with the fact that they do. I mean, to each his own. Rant ON: And even though it shouldn't bother me, it really grinds my gears when someone claims not to eat meat for 'moral reasons' but still eats fish an other types of seafood. Are you serious? Or people who claim to be vegetarian but eat chicken? Then the friends of those "vegetarian" people think I am supoosed to eat fish or chicken because their "vegetarian" friends do. Rant OFF.

On Jaunary 1, 2009 I weighed 186lbs. I started eating better and worked my butt off and today I weigh 145lbs.

I have always had a very poor relationship with food...something that wasn't fixed when I became a vegetarian and I just kept overeating bad vegetarian foods. Today I am working on building a better relationship with food and I hope that Raw Food will become a part of that journey.

I have been 100% raw for two days and I plan to stay 100% raw until Christmas (16 days away) when I will enjoy some of my mother's collard greens. My family is from the South and was shocked when I became a vegetarian. At Christmas their will be five different types of meat on the table, I kid you not. On January 1, 2010 I hope to embark on a life of 90 to 100% raw. It's only been two days and my body feels so much better.

Thank you for all of your help, support and inspiration. I am so excited to be joining you.

    Default hi!

Welcome TGF85! You hit the nail on the head. I think most RAWBIES, however accepting of others, are placed in the position of defending what we do. When I was a complete novice, I felt it was difficult because I couldn't articulate my stance confidently with facts. 3 months of 98% RAW and I now have a simple response.."I love food and needed a natural way to eat more to lose weight. My problem now is finding clothes that still fit". Congratulations on stepping up and introducing yourself. You have a great energy and outlook. Looking forward to updates!

Hi thatgirl. We are glad to have you join us here. Isn't it amazing how much better just a couple of days on raw can make us feel?!:)
You are going to do very well with raw, I am sure. You have already lost 40 some lbs this past year and have already had the determination to "kick butt". I admire your spirit. Looking forward to hearing more about you as you go along.

I just got told I would be a very fun person to "debate" with about eating meat.

I replied that I dont debate ever and that is not my style. I eat what I eat, I let others at what they eat ,,live and let live. I also show by example all raw can do and if people notice and ask questions, I answer.

I also teach others who want to learn and see new ways of doing things.

I love how the progress of raw gets us clear on what we want and why and how to leave the others to what they do. ahhhh

Really? This IS exciting news. Thank you for the insight. Hmmm, I'm the one that helps my mother do the cooking so I will be trying this. I better the flavor is even stronger raw. The great state of Georgia. I only went to high school there but home is wherever my parents are so that's home for now.

Thank you Dave! You're right and while I love to debate, I hate to argue. Unfortunately, few people know the difference. If you want to have an educational debate or dicussion about nutrition, I'm all for it, I love to learn. If you want to argue and justify why you should eat meat when I didn't ask you in the first place, I'm not with it. Period.

I look forward to seeing your updates too!

YESS!!! Let me do me and I'll let you do you. The only time I ever get upset is when the same people who criticize what I am doing, then ask me where I get my "glow" from or how I am losing the weight. I just keep it movin'.
