Default Be careful what you wish for...

Yesterday at the end of my workout at the gym, I hit the treadmill and did my first running in twenty years. I made it a mile at jog/run with two two-minute walking breaks. I was stoked.

Of course the goal-monger that I am, today while taking my morning walk with the dogs in the wash by my house I couldn't help wonder when I would be fit enough to run the wash rather than just walk it. I was coming up with short term goals, would I want 3 or 5 miles at cross-country on the treadmill before moving to the streets and wash, etc.

As the dogs and I approached the turning point in the wash, a dog started barking from the banks. I yelled to the dogs to stop, but they went running. It was then I noticed it was a coyote (we see coyotes all the time, this is the first one who ever barked at us). The coyote ran, luckily there was a fence of sorts and my dogs didn't try to go through it. They came back, but then so did the coyote, and it had brought a friend. And they decided to chase the dogs.

I got the dogs back to me, but one of the coyotes was still coming, running at us. What to do? What to do? We really needed to run, but I'm obese with weak ankles and no breath. But then I remembered. I can run. I knew how to run and I did have good breath. So run we did. Coyoto on our tail. It didn't chase us for too long, just to the bend in the wash and even though it could have caught up with us it chose not to.

So the moral of my little story is, becareful what you wish for because sooner can happen much earlier than you ever planned.
