Default Blender vs. food processor question

Hi everyone! I burnt out the motor on my cheapie ($20) food processor making a raw cashew-based dessert for Thanksgiving. So now I'm limping along with no food processor and an old Osterizer. I can either afford to upgrade to a high speed blender or else buy a Cuisinart, but not both right now. I've got to say my Osterizer is surprisingly strong for an inexpensive blender. It makes great smoothies, raw pasta sauce, nut milks. But would a Vitamix or Blendtec be able to make creamy raw desserts like cashew-based pies? (I love to bring them to potlucks.) Or would I need a food processor for that?

Thanks for your help. This is my first post after my "who are you" introduction. :)

Vitamix makes amazingly creamy sauces. I have used one.
My osterizer works great too. I just saw a cusineart for 25 dollars and another for 45 at a tag sale. I really want a vitamix though.
I think most people who have vita dont use processor much.

    Hi everyone, :)
I'm sorry to take your thread off course, but may I ask...which Osterizer blender you all have? I am new to raw food (loving my journey thus far), but can't afford a Vita Mix at present time...though of course it is my goal! I'm looking for an affordable option to last me for a while for green smoothies, nut butters and nut milks primarily. Thanks and again, I'm so sorry for the hi jack.

I know I'm new and all, but I definitely place my vote with the Vita Mix here. I've watched sooo many YT vids and I'm sold on the power and efficiency of this wonderful machine. I can't wait to get mine! My daughter and I are SO thrilled about our raw food journey!

Can't wait to hear what you decide!!

Of Course a Vita-Mix can do it all, so that is something for you to consider and save for. Some have found deals on used Vita-Mix on Ebay.
