    Hi Tood,

Thanks for sharing the story about the antidepressants. My son has been "stuck" on them for 6-7 years and is having a horrible time trying to get off of them. The doctor tried to put my daughter and me on them too. Gheeze. Seems like their solution to everything is antidepressants.

Anyway I'm going to send your story to him.

Also, VeganWannaBe - so many people get upset when you say you want to lose weight and that is the wrong answer for going raw. I have thought about this and decided it's not wrong. If you're over weight, it's a symptom. Like a headache is a symptom. Dry skin is a symptom. Fibromyalgia is a symptom. So why is it okay to say I'm eating raw to get rid of the fibromyalgia, or I'm eating raw to get rid of my headaches, but you can't say I'm eating raw to lose weight? So if you lost .8 pounds, then hurray for you!!!! Your body is getting rid of unwanted poundage of toxins. YEA!!!!

Todd, that's an awesome story! Thanks for sharing it.
Day #1 went great for me.
I woke up early this morning, feeling great, not hungry and no headache. I lost 2/5 lbs. WoooHooo! I had my first glass of juice at 10:00am. It's a bright and sunny day here and I think it will help me stay focused and positive. I'm off to juice some more..... :)
Great job Helen and Tamara. Keep up the good work.
Jay, my hat is off to you. I am so impressed. Since I have only done one 24 hour juice fast before, I will be very happy if I can complete 5 days this time. Next time I will try to go longer.
Everyone's posts are very inspiring and encouraging to me.

    (r)Awsome story Todd!

Everybody's doing great, I'm so glad you guys joined, and looks by your posts that everybody's still doing wonderfull, excellent!

Thanks Edda, I'm amazed at myself that I keep going, although, like I already mentioned before, I'm getting a bit fed up with the juice, I just placed an awsome order with Orkos (they deliver all organic to some countries in Europe, I ordered pineapples, pomegranates, bananas, dates and really sweet grapes that are already semi-dry -turning in to raisins, but still with lots of juice left) So you see that I'm preparing to eat solid foods again! (btw: I'll get the rest of my produce in a health food store nearby where I live, Orkos is just for the real treats!)
But for now I'll keep juicing, the order arrives on tuesday, so I'll juice until then I think, unless everything isn't ripe yet, but I think it's going to be difficult to stay away from those dates! It's a testset, with 16 (!) different types of dates (about 5 pieces per type) so you see, that's going to be hard to stay away from!!!

I just drank the rest of my OJ (so today I had already 51 oz OJ) and that's it! I'm not that hungry anymore as yesterday... (it's already 5:40pm here)... I'll juice my apples and pears for dinner I think...

    See you juicers later!
    Joke

    I forgot to say this:

With me the main reason to go raw is also my weight... I'm very lucky I think that I don't suffer from anything else and have to take meds for that! So for me it's basically: weight, headaches, feeling tired, skin (dry all over my body except my face that's quite oily) overall wellbeing.
I can already say that I've lost over 35 pounds, don't have headaches anymore (not even for detox but that might still change), skin is still fairly dry and face is still oily (not to mention my hair, I have to wash it every other day) and I had lots of zits on my face caused by detox I assume) I'm not that tired anymore and I already feel better in my skin, but I still have a long way to go!!! :)

    Aww, Thanks Curtis!! :)

So for dinner I juiced about 6 pears and 3 apples, which made a really thick juice! I'm adding a bit of water because it's almost like a smoothie!!

My tummy is STILL bloated! pff, when will this end?!

    Hello everyone!
Joke, today made me realize just how much more I should be impressed by your determination!!! I was already amazed by you but today opened up my eyes even wider ... you are incredible, my friend!!!
Yesterday was fantastic but today was not so great. I wish my hubby didn't like to eat out so much! But it's my fault 110% I broke down this afternoon and had tortilla chips w/ organic salsa ... needless to say, I'm paying the price for it now!
But, let me make this very clear ... I am not giving up with the fast just yet! I am going to try to juice Monday through Friday (it's so much easier to make proper decisions when my sweet husband is working those long hours during the week!) and then continue on raw over the weekend. If all works out, I will do this until Thanksgiving when I commence to 100% Raw.
Hey ~ any change toward raw is a change for the better right? I must admit that I feel horrible for faltering after only 1 and 1/2 days ... I'm truely sorry... ugh!

:) That's so sweet of you to say Tamara, thank you very much for your kind words, they made me smile :)

I'm sorry you fell for the tortilla chips, I know, they still look so good to me too, It's hard, but don't pay too much attention and time to that slip anymore, it's over, you should get up and dust off, remember?! ;)

Maybe it wasn't time yet for fasting for you, I don't think I could have done it when starting with raw... first I spent 3 months transitioning, 1 month all raw, then the following months a slip up here and there, and then decided to do a juicefast. But I'm amazed by your perseverance! I'm glad you still want to change, it's good, not always easy, but you'll get there, there are always going to be little bumps in the road, for everyone, just visionise your goal(s), you'll get there! WE'll get there, okay!?

    Good luck raw buddy!

great Jay!!!! :) You are soooo strong!!!!
    I am at day 10 too!!!! I can't believe!!!
I don't know what to do, because this morning a lady that I know gave me 2 bags of organic vegetables (lettuce, cabbage, fennels, peppers, eggplants, parsley, leeks, celery) picked up directly from her garden, and I felt soooo hungry by the smell of that greens!! I feel a lot for a salad, and I am sad to leave all this good stuff to get old in the fridge but I am also being so proud of me for the 10 days of juice fast that I want to continue until friday...maybe I can try to juice some green stuff,
What is your plan jay? Will you do the 2 weeks plan?

    Fragola,

I made THE MOST delicious V-8 type vegetable juice using the following:

    tomatoes
    small beet
    celery
    carrots
    Romaine lettuce
    parsley
    spinach
    red pepper
    1 small clove garlic
    lemon juice

I added a little sea salt and a little Bragg's. It tasted delicious and really satisfied the craving for something salty.

    Jay, you are doing FABULOUS!!!
You're right, visualizing our goals does help. Jay and Fragola, I can't remember if you've ever listed the benefits you have notices from this juice fast. If you haven't, would you mind doing so?

Today is day 3 for me. I have done very well so far with no slip ups. I have lost 5.5 lbs. in two days. Is this possible??? I am thrilled, of course, but amazed. I really do miss chewing though. :) Last night I was looking for and printing holiday type recipes until I realized that it was making me hungry and I had to stop.

I will begin my day with orange juice (since I bought a bunch more yesterday) and probably make some more V-8 later. Here's to a great day everyone.

    Jay & Fragola.
You two are so inspirational!!! Keep it up, you're both doing great :)

And Edda ... my hat's off to you as well! 5.5 pounds in 2 days ... how is your energy?

Well, even with my slip, I still lost .2 pounds! That's crazy!!! I think my body is just so happy to be getting "nourishment" instead of the SAD that it is doing it's best to help me be raw by blessing me with motivation via weight loss... who knows?! Anyway, I think you are right J. about the timing of my fast. Given that, I will be trying to juice 2 meals a day & have 100% raw the remainder. What do you think? Any insight into this is very much welcomed :)

    Hi Tamara,

I think I mentioned once before that even when I eat normally, I generally have juice 3 times a day. That works really well for me and I so enjoy it. I usually have only juice until lunchtime. I figure this gives my body a good long rest from the last meal on the previous day. Does this make sense?
My energy level is great. In fact, I am not noticing any detox symptoms yet.
I wish you great success in however you decide to do it.

    Thanks Edda!

The changes I experienced, well, let's see:

*I lost weight, but only 4.8 pounds... not a lot, is it? But I did notice that my jeans fit better then before the juicefast, so somethings comming off, if it's not weight, it's inches for sure.
*I'm still bloated. I thought I'd be visiting the toilet at least once a day (for #2 of course) but that's not the case... which I don't understand very well, I thought all the build up toxins would be released when juicefasting...
*I have more energy, but I notice that only when I'm doing things like cleaning or walking... I can go much longer without stopping to take a rest or without breaking into a sweat.
*I noticed I don't need as much food! Sometimes I can go by with just about 70oz of juice, and H2O of course.
*I'm still sleeping a LOT!! 9 hours is no exception!! But I also just love sleeping, so maybe I don't NEED the 9 hours... I notice that when I only sleep like 7 hours, I'm fine too.
*My face hasen't cleared up yet, I already had a few spots here and there on my face (especially the T-zone of my face) but since starting with the juicefast, I've had a lot more, the ones I had from the beginning of the fast are finally starting to heal, but I have new ones popping up each day...
*I know how to operate a champion now, lol!
*I haven't had a single headache during this fast, which is quite impressive I think! Before raw I had at least 5 headaches per month (mostly accompagnied with my periods). Since going raw, I only had a few in the beginning! AND, also a really bad one after I ate lots of cooked food, the day before this juicefast!
*I made a lot of new raw friends on this board :)

I think that's it... If I found more benefits, I'll add them :)

ALRIGHT SARA!!! 10 days too, we are on a roll here!!
As for your lovely veggies... you can juice them, like Edda mentioned, but the sad thing about juicing is... you have to throw a lot of the food away (all the stuff that doesn't contain any juice anymore) so you have to decide for yourself of course, and I'll cheer you on if you want to do 14 days, that would be awsome!!
As for myself, I'm gonna break mine on Wednesday I think... I have a big dinnerparty (B-day of my grandma) of Saturday, so if I break the fast on Wednesday, I can transition slowly to whole fruits again... (and my Orkos delivery will arrive Tuesday, Yay, I ordered dates, YUM!)

    bye!

    Hey Tamara,

that's great that you still lost a bit of weight! :)
I think you can, like Edda suggested, combine juices with your meals, that's what I'm gonna do as well after this fast. Sometimes I'm hungry but the things I have lying around in the house just don't seem to appeal to me. I think that that would be a good moment to drink some juice instead. You can add what you want, you won't be hungry anymore afterwards, and you'll get enough vitamins and all.

Take care! You're doing a great job!! :)

I forgot to mention what I drank already today:
I didn't make the OJ because there was still a pineapple and I combined it with two pears. Then I thought, I'm gonna try to juice a banana and let the others know about how it went... well, I'd advise you to NOT juice a banana!! There was hardly any juice, actually, it was more like banana purree that came out! It had the same texture like if you make banana ice cream with the blender/food processor/champion, only this time it wasn't cold! I can't even taste the banana in my juice, so it wasn't worth it! Just so you know! Ciao!
