    Default Nice Co-workers!!

So yesterday was my birthday (and also my boss's birthday) and today our coworkers surprised us with the usual little party, except that this time, because only one other person knew i was a vegan, the entire theme of the food was salad! I couldn't believe it, salad with all the toppings, instead of the usual fattening SAD things, everyone was munching on salad. There was also a lemon kind of cake which i did not eat but i was so tickled by this!! Also, so many questions! What do you eat? Why are you doing this? Do you drink milk? No meat at all? And the best one.........."but where are you getting your nutrition?" - oh my. I don't say anything about raw, they couldn't handle this, i would be locked up in the psych ward down the hall immediately. But at least, they kept asking me these questions, very cautiously, so as not to offend, i thought it was really neat. (of note, every single person in the office, and they are all nurses, except for 2, are overweight).

It's really sad how ignorant most of the world is. I'm always wondering how, with all of the health info easily available, this is possible.

Next time, you should bring your own raw goodies for everyone to try and so you can enjoy dessert.

thanks, and yes, it was really shocking when she turned to me and asked where i'm getting my nutrients from, as if fruits and salads and nuts don't have anything in them, unlike turkey, cake and booze!! (their preferred diet). I was very low-key and so were they. But it was interesting, how the questions kept pouring out, there IS an interest in healthy eating, i think, buried somewhere in there.

Happy Birthday Gabrielle! ~ What a nice theme for the meal. How nice of them to do this, that was thoughtful. *Ü*
