    Default freezing juice

Can I freeze green juice? Will it hurt it? Also can I freeze smoothies?

i freeze my juice and yes, it does lower the value... but heck, i'm cool with that. it's still super healthy IMO. :)

i've never frozen a smoothie so i have no idea.

I am currently doing my 2nd juice fast. I learned alot from my 1st fast and am doing things a little different this time, and they are going somewhat smoother.
I learned from Aleesha about freezing juice and it is saving me immense amount of time. When I make a specific juice, I make alot and freeze some in Mason jars. I also learned not to overfill them as they will explode in freezer :)
Now during my fast I have a wide selection of juice to choose form and don't have to spend time juicing everyday, which is especially nice when my energy levels are really low. When I head off to work I pack my little cooler with 5 or 6 mason jars and I'm good to go. I also keep extra with me in car driving around the kids, or errands. I like the feeling that there is an abundance of juice available to me! One other thing that helps is to "melt" the juice in a bowl of hot water for about 10 min. There's still a large portion of frozen juice in the jar, but it starts and speeds up the melting process.
I know that I'm not maximizing the nutritional value of my juice by freezing and not drinking within the first few minutes made, but, I have justified it by it helps me to fast and its still super nutritious.
    Hope that helps!

I freeze almost EVERYTHING! I freeze bananas WITH the peels (then to thaw I put into a canning jar with luke warm water for a bit and when ready to use in recipe, cut the top and pop out the banana). I freeze avocados WHOLE. They thaw wonderfully.

I make numerous recipes, cut in half and freeze. Alissa's calzones freeze great!

I don't care if it takes out some of the nutrients. I am eating so much healthier than ever. And back in the day when we humans foraged for our food, during the frozen months, we'd find berries and such and thaw and eat them, right?

Juices? Heck yeah, freeze 'em all the time. Makes my life easier and healthy!

You can't make juice with bananas?? I have been putting bananas in mine and not liking them as much as I think I should. Thought maybe I just put in too much. Why can't you use bananas and avocados for juicing?

BLENDING, but not juicing. They are not very juicy products. I blend avos and 'nanners all the time. I have never, EVER attempted to juice them...

Hey Lucy!!!! Just curious, how long do you keep your food frozen? Do you have a time limit depending on what the food is?

    Thx,

Not too terribly long. I don't "do" numbers with a whole bunch of anything anymore, like calories, carbs, etc. Max for juices, maybe a couple weeks. Same with the fruits I guess...

i've drank juice that was frozen for almost 3 months... and it tasted the same as fresh. ;)

and nope... avo and bananas don't juice. ;) so don't waste them by putting them into your juicer and watching them come out the other end!

oh, my blender won't even blend up silken tofu.. :/ let alone ginger root! lol and the juice is supposed to be very strong, so the mixing it with water wouldn't be very good, i don't think. but thanks for the suggestion! :)
