Feeling ill--first time since started eating raw
Hi,
I've never started a thread so it feels a bit strange and I hope this is OK.
I am disappointed to say all of a sudden tonight I am feeling quite ill. I felt great today, started with green juice and lots of energy. I have been raw for about 2 months now. I was having green smoothies every day but had to take a break due to some digestive issues.
This afternoon I noticed a cold sore forming on my lip--have not had one for several months. I used to take 1000 mg of L-Lysine supplements daily to keep these away but stopped when I began eating raw, hoping I could stop taking it. I am not sure if I should start taking them again or just let it run its course, which it will do anyway.
I also notice I am chilled, my throat is getting very sore and I have a shooting pain in the back of my head. I used to get this frequently at the start of a sinus infection. I am feeling weak and think I might just have to go bed and might miss work tomorrow which I hate to do.
I have been very busy --have to move in a month and have been feeling a bit overwhelmed with the prospect of this and the busy job I have.
I guess I am spoiled by the fact that I've been quite lucky and have not been ill for a while and have felt great during my first months of going raw. Could this be a detox reaction at this point in my raw journey or maybe I am just getting sick...I know I am only human, :)
I guess I should stick with green juices and fruit juices and lots of water?
Thanks for reading. Any suggestions would be most welcome. Ehhh I don't want to be sick!!!

Busy job, moving in a month, feeling overwhelmed... this type of stuff can weaken the immune system. When I started my job I had problems getting enough sleep in... I had to adapt to my work schedule. This made me vulnerable to sickness. Thus I got sick.
Just take it easy on yourself. Relax 'n unwind... Meditate, sip a calming tea... masturbate whatever works for you.

I just did a search here on cold sores--found lots of good information. I am going to keep taking the L-lysine for now and try some tea tree oil on it.
They say moving is one of the high stress events.
Hopefully I will feel better tomorrow, if not I will have to stay home from work. I feel silly for posting--guess I was having a low moment. I know I am not immune from getting ill.:)

I was ill for a day around when I moved in November, and I've been ill at least twice since (never for more than a few hours or a day)... what I've noticed, however, is that my body kicks it MUCH FASTER since I'm on Raw than before I went 100%...
Stick it out, Beth! *HUG* Your body is doing housecleaning!

I'd up the vitamin C intake but keep the 'tingy' stuff away. juice or smoothie it. I do take B12. I think this big change in weather around the country is part of it. It's suppose 47-50 here now, we haven't been above 28 & 15 in pm. this is very depressing. along with other things, it can build up on you. if you have any exercise equipment at home, jump on it or do some yoga stretches/pilates. I go through this every few months. I look at what I'm missing or what I've let into our lives that sucks mine out of me then, I do my best to rid myself of it or get what I need.

Thank you Margo. I have family there--they are freezing and are not used to it. I hope it gets warmer where you are soon.
I had been supplementing with B12 but didn't for a few days. So I started again today. Thanks for the tip on the vitamin C. I had some green juice this morning and I am feeling well today. I am beginning to see, as you suggest, that keeping life in balance, so to speak, has a lot to do with how we feel, along with what food we eat.
I am lucky--it is very nice where I am--going to be in the low 70's today so I will definitely take a lunch time walk.

So glad you are feeling better Green_Woman and able to sing! I find those big stores like IKEA can wear me out so I totally understand. It can be fun though looking for furniture ideas but yes it can be tiring!
The B12 supplement I use is a liquid in a small bottle with a dropper and it says it is vegan. I got it in Sprouts. I'm not sure about it being raw though. I will check into it. I am curious what kind you use. Thanks for pointing that out. Yes, I plan to keep taking it.

I use Vitamin Code's B-12.
NOTE: I don't recommend supplementation for everyone, unless you notice a particular deficiency and need a little extra help to get back into balance.
Prior to going totally Raw/Living, I used to eat particular non-vegan foods in an effort to bring my B-12 levels back into balance, and of course the cooked/non-vegan sources weren't working any better than not eating them at all.
My energy levels were VERY low for about the first month of my 100% raw/living experiment before I started taking the B-12... now, as long as I take the B-12 a few times a week, I feel consistently strong and energetic.
I'm looking forward to the day I no longer need the supplementation -- but for now, it's helping out and I'm okay with it.

70's!!! I'll take 50's. I also us maca, ginger & chia seeds daily. If I slack off on chia or maca, I can tell a difference especially in sleep & the blahs.
