    Default Why do figs burn your tongue??

    Ok, i've seen mention of this in other places online, but no one knows the reason for this.......i just ate 5 purple/brown fresh figs, and my tongue is burning!! Wow!! They were delicious, but why the burn?

    There must be bromelain in them. I get it from some melon and of course pineapples.

    figs do not bother me but if I eat a lot of pineapple-I get it.
