Default Sprouting aduki/ adzuki beans so slow!!!

I have been sprouting the same jar of aduki beans for about a week and they still are really short sprouts - ie not ready to be eaten! Before that I soaked them overnight and put them out and nothing happened for 2 days so I soaked them for another 1-1 and 1/2 days then put them out again.

Why do you think they are sprouting so slow? Does this happen when beans are older or there is less sun or something? What other reasons could it be?

I have nothing helpful to say except that I just bought a bunch of adzukis but I haven't sprouted them yet.

If I think of it, I will make a post here with my timelines after I start sprouting them.

    We shall see!

only takes me a few days ....

i'm sure it wouldn't affect the beans differently if you use filtered water or not..?

are they getting enough air between each bean? I tilt my jar on an angle so to spread out the beans more to create more air as opposed to leaving the jar upright where most of the beans (the ones that arent at the top) would be suffocating...

or... i say something is wrong with your beans...

I am trying to sprout buckwheat at the moment and I'm on day 3 of sprouting and no tails to be seen either. I think that your adzukis, like I'm beginning to suspect of my buckwheat, was probably heat treated and are no longer raw.

Any more experienced sprouters out there to confirm this suspicion?

Ok, they finally sprouted. I ended up putting more water in the jar so it wasn't drained throughout most of the process and they kept increasing in size for about a week. I had them on the windowsill during this simultaneosly. They started to sprout slooowly about 5 days in and I kept them sprouting for about 4 days.
I think they absorb water very slowly so the soaking period has to be extended. Also I think they may have been affected by the lack of sun - it has been quite overcast here.
I wonder too if they might be slightly old? Glad they have worked anyway.

hilarya_m: hope your buckweat sprouts ok in the end

I finally ended up sprouting my adzuki seeds, too.

They definitely took quite a bit longer than alfalfa and other seeds like that.

Here's a picture of my sprouted adzuki seeds on a windowsill at Flickr.

They took a couple of days to start sprouting and then I let them sprout for probably four days, as well.
