    Default WEEK 5 Day 37...

    Hey everyone!!!

    Here's what I had yesterday for dinner (Alissa's Enchaladas w/Salad):

    Today I started off with a Fruit Smoothie (Almond Milk, Bananas, Mango, Papaya, Strawberry)...sooo good!!! Then, I had a Salad for lunch. I had some Grapes...couldn't stop eating them!!! Been kinda "nibbling" towards the Evening...mostly on fruit, some nuts. (I did have 1/2 of a donut......my one defeat for the Challenge!!! Hey, it's that time of the month...what can I say!!! I'm back "CENTERED" and "FOCUSED" now, though!!!

    Anyway, right before I had my "1/2 donut meltdown", I found out I got a layover in Boston!!! So I called Grezzo to see if Alissa would be there and was told she would be in a class, I decided to wait and take the trip when I originally intended to at the end of October. I'm disappointed...I want to go when I will be able to meet her.

    WEEK 2:

    Almost Tuna Pate (Pg 383) ***ALREADY MADE***

    :::drools:::

    That enchilada looks SO good. I've been craving one this week but I loaned out Alissa's book and haven't gotten it back yet and I can't remember the recipe. *pouts*

    Oh, Cris. I have lots of books that I will loan out and Alissa's is NOT one of them!

    Renee: I remember from your last thread that you want to open a restaurant. I think you will have missed your true calling - being a raw food coach! You are doing such a great job of mentoring all of us through your posts and pics. I think you would be awesome as a coach!

    Here's another way you've inspired me. I made the marinara sauce yesterday afternoon and dehydrated it overnight. I got up to a wonderful thick sauce. I just know it will be amazing on zucchini pasta. I am going to freeze some to take with me when I fly on Wednesday. I'm off to Walmart to find some 3 oz containers for sauces and dressings.

    Thanks again, Renee!

    Default WEEK 6 Day 38

    Thanks you all!!!

    Today I had a LOT of Watermelon!!! I got a good one and ate almost all of it!!! I also had a Salad w/Eggplant Bacon and a Marinated Mushroom...soooo good!!! I didn't have any lemon, so I used a lime for the marinade and it was just as good! I had another Mushroom left over, so I had it for dinner with the EASY SLAW...(I didn't like the Slaw at first...but, then the flavors came together after about 30 minutes and I couldn't stop eating it!!! SOOO GOOD!)

    I also put together the Crusts to make the Quiche...

    Hey Annie, is it supposed to look like this? I always picture Quiche with a Pie-like Shape to it... Is yours flat like this? Or, do you "pinch" the ends when it's almost solid? You know, like a pie crust?

    Renee, that's exactly how mine looked. Then I just piled everything else on top of the crust. Yummy. Could you believe how divine the crust smelled as it was dehydrating?

    I think you're imagining the SAD quiche made in a large round casserole. I doubt you could make one large quiche and cut it in wedges because I doubt that the crust would dehydrate properly. Just my opinion, though. Others who are more knowledgeable may disagree.

    At any rate, I hope you like it as much as I do.

    As an aside, I found the 3 oz containers at WalMart and now I need to figure out how many of them will fit in a quart ziplock.

    Would you consider starting a travel thread? I did a search, but it was mostly a waste of time, and you obviously have a LOT of experience with this.

    Do you ever travel through ORD? If so, do you know a juice bar anywhere? I'd love to get a fresh juice to help hydrate while I sit for the next flight. I have a 4 hour sit, so have plenty of time to wander around.

    Thanks again for this thread.

    GREAT!!! I'm so glad you found them! If they give you any problems at Security, just tell them you know me!!! ;) LOL!!!

    I actually thought about that, but most of what I could offer to it is in this one and my previous thread, so that's why I haven't done it. I only fly domestic flights (and occasionally Canada and Mexico), so I'm not an expert on internationally flying overseas or anything.

    I do go to ORD!!! As a matter of fact, I'm actually from Gary, IN, so we fly to ORD and drive to Gary! I have never seen a juice bar there, though. They only have that one Au Bon Pain there on the left as you leave through Security (maybe get a salad there)... They also have a food court if you go through Security and turn right...go down the escalator. Nothing much there for RAWbies, unfortunately...

    Hey Sprouts2Go!!! Yea, Alissa's corn chips are one of my favorites!!! I have tried them both ways (with frozen and fresh corn)... They both come out great...but I'm leaning more towards fresh corn. Here's a photo. These are with Fresh Corn:

    Default WEEK 6 DAY 39 and 40

    DAY 39 (Yesterday)

    I was unable to post because I had to work. I spent the night in Newark, NJ and packed plenty of "goodies" to take with me on my trip. Here's what I took:

    * Fruit (Watermelon, Grapes, Clementines)
    * Flax Crackers (Basic and Banana)
    * Eggplant Bacon
    * Pico de Gallo
    * Alissa's Corn Tortillas (from the Enchaladas)
    * Salad
    * Avacado
    * 2 Bananas

    I munched on what I took with me and didn't even have to leave my hotel room or order anything. I also did ***30*** Minutes on the treadmill before I went to work and 20 minute Ab workout!!! :)

    I must admit, it was hard being in NJ and not going to my favorite Barbeque place in Elizabeth, especially because the hotel was right across the street from it!!! But, I kept telling myself that I was NOT going to ruin my progress that I have made. I was so DETERMINED to stay away from that dead animal flesh!!!! I'm NOT putting that in my body anymore!!! Instead, I read in my room and focused on the food that I brought with me. And, when the craving passed, I was SO glad that I had kept my focus and NOT ruined my RAW diet!!! :) I'm pretty proud of myself today!!!

    ===========================================

    Today (WEEK 6 Day 40) I had:

    * a DOUBLE Wheatgrass Shot (Yea, BABY!!! There is a Jamba Juice in the Newark, NJ Airport!!!)
    * Grapes
    * Clementines
    * Banana
    * Salad w/my Avacado and Eggplant Bacon

    I also did a 10 minute AB workout this morning before I left my hotel room this morning. For dinner, I'm gonna see what I have left over in the frig and eat whatever I have. Gotta finish the Quiches tonight. The crusts are done, just gotta make the insides...

    HEY, I'M ***JAMMIN' on the RAW*** YAU'LL!!!!! :)

    Renee, I think one of the reasons I'm enjoying your photos so much is because you present the food so beautifully. Honestly, I don't take the time to do that, and I should! I usually just chow down!

    I'm flying through ORD, not in or out, terminal 3, so I will just have to check it out. I'm taking a lot of food with me on the plane. Goodness, that sounds like a lot of food you carried on. Is salsa usually OK and not count as a liquid? I want to take some tomato soup with me, but I doubt that I'll be able to get enough in those little 3 oz containers. I'm assuming you cut your melon, etc. Does that go through OK? When I fly, most of the flights I take are fairly short and non-stop, so I don't have long sits to contend with like this trip. I'm with ya, gal, and not going to succumb to any of the SAD food places.

    Have you ever been to Karyn's Raw in Chicago? Going there for brunch next Sunday and really looking forward to it. I've put my family on notice that I'm eating raw, so they won't be offended when I don't eat their SAD food - my family are all great cooks!

    Keep up the good work. Your determination and efforts are encouraging lots of us to walk the walk!

    Default WEEK 6 Day 41 and 42

    Hello everyone!!!

    Well, had a LOT of fruit today...mostly Clementines. Made Nori Rolls for Lunch. I haven't been in the "mood" to eat any nuts or anything heavy today. Here are photos of my Quiche and RAWritos... The Quiche took forever to make for me!!!...not because the recipe was difficult, but I've had a busy week with working and homeschooling. The result was alright...not as good as I expected it to be, but not bad either. It did "smell" strangely to me a little, though...not bad cold, too.

    The RAWritos I've made before and are always a hit! I also have some Pico de Gallo to scoop them up in...YUMMY!!!

    Looking forward to a "Simple" Day tomorrow...just feasting on leftovers!!!

    Annie, I've never had a problem with Salsa...I prefer Pico de Gallo, though...with is not as "liquidy" as Salsa. With the Tomato Soup...I probably wouldn't worry about it... Just don't take too much, though. You could just ask before you go through. If they say it's too much, excuse yourself to the side and drink it down. It might even be worth it to take a small hand blender with you and make the Tomato Soup in your hotel room... I've done that MANY times!!!

    Yes, I do cut my Melon. It fits better if you cut it up & put it in a container. Never had a problem with that either.

    No, I sure haven't! Let me know how the food tastes, when you go!!! Take some photos, if you can... I'm off to make Elaina's Cinnamon Rolls!!!
