detox thoughts?
So I'm a couple days in now, and I'm enjoying the raw transition. I've been vegetarian for a good while now, so I wasn't expecting too drastic of an impact from the detox aspect, but... I think I'm catching it pretty bad – can't tell if it's mostly just caffeine withdrawal or what, but I've never felt this consistently tired before. Maybe second to that one time I had mono. Maybe.
Anyone else experience something similar? I highly doubt there aren't many coffee-junkies-gone-raw out there, given its place in standard American culture. How long does this period of detox symptoms usually last?

Raw food is a continual cleansing and detoxxing of years of stuff. Sometimes it may be noticable and other times not. It will pass so hang on and let it do its work. Best to you.

It's the coffee, check it out w anyone who's kicked that habit and they will tell you the same thing. Coffee is way hard to quit.
I ate pretty healthy before going raw the first time and experienced zero detox, transition was 100% overnight for over a year the first time and it was easy peasy with no problems. Of course, everyone is different but that was my experience.
Keep it up if you can because if you go back to the java you'll just have to start all over again from square one, everything you dislike about this experience will have to be relived over again. Not such a great motivation to drink a coffee anytime soon, is it?
You'll get over it in just a few more days, maybe a couple weeks or so. That isn't really so long in the grand scheme of things, is it? You can do it, I know you can!
Best of luck to you!

I'm experiencing something similar I think - I even transitioned from coffee to green tea a month or so before going raw, so I don't think the caffeine is it alone. But I'm newly raw and feeling sleepy - sometimes mid morning, sometimes (like now, lol) mid afternoon.
What I've noticed is that by the end of the week it gets better, and then after eating poorly over the weekend it starts out back at square one Monday morning. I attribute it to detox and also the process of learning when and what type of fuel my body wants.
Good luck to you!

I've read the caffeine takes about 1-2 weeks to get out of the system. The rest of your detox could take longer or not (I had the same question and this is what I figured out based on all the threads I've read here that talk about detoxing).
Hang in there, you're not alone and it does get better.

AMEN!!! I hear ya
I am a coffee-junkie-gone-RAW and this is only day 8, I was drinking super double caffeinated with 1/4 cup creamer for 24 oz and ......wait for it.....8 splendas I have been having frequent headaches and like many here I've been very sleepy (2 naps already today alone), my husband hasnt been very understanding- "What another nap!" -but I hope your right HereandThere cause I'm tired of being tired.

YIKES! That's quite a lot to be detoxing from! Especially the Splenda. I've read that that stuff is actually closer to pesticide than to sugar. I can't explain it the way the author could, but imo, Splenda is very frightening stuff. I estimate that between the super-double-caff'd coffee, the creamer (also loading with chemicals) and the Splenda, you were giving yourself quite the chemical cocktail each morning. But I also predict that once you get fully detoxed, you'll feel better than you have in years.
I will send my strongest prayers for you. Keep us updated on your detox progress, ok?
