Overbearing Parents
I have had trouble with my parents insisting that raw foodism IS Anorexia. Has anyone else had this problem? How do I convince my father and grandparents that I don't need to be forced into a recovery clinic?
They've seen me devour raw food, and tons at a time, and still they have this misguided view because I've lost so much weight. Any advice?

If you have Alissa's DVDs - have them watch it. Do they have access to a computer? Have them tap into some of the testimonials here. You are NOT too thin. You look healthy.
Do I have to come up there and have a talk w/your folks! I will you know!!!

My mother wouldn't watch the DVDs with me, but she has been okay with me being raw from the beginning.
My father and his parents, on the other hand, might be persuaded that way... The next time I visit home, I'll be sure to have the DVDs (Alissa's and Rawfor30days.com's) on hand.

well, this is my look at it...do they live the way you do, do they do anything that can harm their body, are they open to healthy suggestions, did you ask them if it was ok, are you a minor who has to have their permission to live your opposite of them? I'm guess no to all if not most of these.
My life, my lifestyle. I'm not on meds, constipated, allergies, miserable in general, etc. If you don't ask then they don't need to put it in unless you are truely endangering yourself. I wouldn't discuss it with them. If they start, just tell them that unless they have something positive to say & support then please do not discuss it. Sadly, this goes for you discussing it with them or encouraging them. May be rough but at times, that's how we have to be.

My grandmother will listen when I talk, but my father and grandfather are pretty closed-minded. I don't live with them, but they seem to think that they could have me put in an ED clinic if they could convince whoever they need to that I'm anorexic. I'm hoping it's an empty threat. Besides, I'm not sure who they would have to convince, considering I'm an adult.
It's irritating nonetheless.

Yes.... think you would have to consent and I am sure you would have to look anorexic which you dont to me.
People understand after a bit. Bear with them for they know not what they do.

You're right. And the pic you're probably referring to was taken when I was 10 pounds lighter... But my dad still asks me to eat some "real food" at least "once a week." I just chuckle and think to myself, "you wouldn't know 'real food' if it bit you..."

Overbearing Parents
Im not trying to be rude - but I just get frustrated when non-single parents pop in here and give their advice,,,
Yes their advice might work for them - but it doesnt always work for us.
waves to Mod can we please have this made a sticky?
You can delete this post if need be - but I think it would be a good idea to have a sticky Q & A thread in here

Your post is completely puzzling to me. This is an old thread and I don't even see anything relating to single/non-single parents. I'd say you are spamming, but there is no link in your post. Weird.
