I cant stop eating!!
I have been vegan for a year and I decided to go raw for a while. I started off with The Master Cleanse and I eased my way into a raw food diet. This is my first week and I am doing really good. At the moment i am eating 90% raw. I have a big problem. I cant stop eating. Of course the food I am eating is raw but I just cant stop eating. If you have any recommendations or advice I would greatly appreciate it. p.s. I am not overweight, I just dont want to eat my way into a bigger size.

So adjust as in, I will not need as much food to keep me satisfied? Also, what percent fruit, vegetables, and nuts(proteins) should I have? I am a 20 year old female 5'3 140lbs. I am just worried. I want to lose weight, but feel that if i keep eating this way I will gain weight. I am also very bloated. I am not eating any salt. I should'nt be retaining water???

Drink more water, exercise, eat lots of greens.
Sometimes you will retain water at first.
In time, you will need to eat less to feel satisfied.

According to David Wolfe, and his The Sunfoord Diet Success System book, greens (leafy green vegetables, seaweed, micro algae, etc.) should form 33 % of the diet; fats (nuts, seeds, avocados, olives, etc.) should form 33 %, and sweet fruits 33 %. (Percentage by dry weight of food.)

33% fat is way too much!!! I think it's more like 10% !! I haven't read david wolfe, but wow....33%!! Frederic Patenaude recommends 10% as does Natalia Rose....Also, food combining is important. and it makes a difference if you are snacking on a pint of strawberries or a pound of nuts(very heavy)!!

wow, i was just about to post a topic about this same problem. i cant stop eating either. i always have to be eating.. a lot of food in between meals. smoothies, zucchini hummus, sprouts, honey, dried fruit, chia seeds. i think it is because i was raised on SAD my entire life, which does not require a lot of food until one feels full and horrible. people dont need to eat a few hamburgers to feel full because it's not your hunger being satiated. it is the body saying NO MORE. and it just repeats every day. now my body is saying MORE every time i eat nourishing food. it is kind of annoying and expensive, but i am doing what is best for my health.

I experience the same. I think there are several reasons:
- Raw food is so light and easy to digest but we are not used to the feeling that our digestion has nothing to do so we think we are hungry.
- We are in a state of transition and our body is rebuilding itself and needs material for this.
- By now we still need all this food, later, our digestive system will get more effective and can absorb more nutriens of less food.
Just my explanations.
As to the 33/33/33 theory: As far as I remember, he refers to the amounts as dry weight. If you would dehydrate all your sweet fruits, they would be much smaler that would be more like it.

i read somewhere, mayber here, that when we FINALLY give our body appropriate & nutritious foods, it goes wild. then as it gets what it needs finally (and that takes awhile!) to make up for all the crap it was getting for years, then it eventually levels off.
i have been *nearly* 100% since mid-january and i STILL have days where i CANNOT stop eating. some days i eat less now, but at first it was 7 days a week i couldnt stop.
good luck!!

I would think the 33% fatty foods does not pertain to the fat, but to the food by volume. Avocados, nuts, etc. are NOT 100% fat. I'm sure that overall it would probably work out to be about 20% fat, which is very healthy. 10% fat when you eat raw food only is too low, IMHO.

Everyone has different goals so for some 10% of your diet from fats is to low but if you want to have a low body fat percentage it’s the way to go. First define what you are trying to achieve and then find the ratios in your diet that will allow you to reach that goal.
As to feeling hungry embrace it. Hunger is a natural feeling that we’ve forgotten how to control. On the SAD we were taught, feel hungry eat, hungry eat but that isn’t necessary. It’s ok to feel hungry. Especially if you want to lose some weight you have to eat less calories than you use. Go out and do something that will keep your mind of food. Pick up a hobby that will captivate your mind. You won’t even realize you are hungry.
