*Rant* Here ends my raw journey...until later.
So here I am forced to interrupt again and end my raw journey for a few months at least until I get some stuff taken care of and can move back to my own place again.
Just had an argument with my parents about how I was making the kitchen look like a "laboratory" with my raw food things and that they didn't want any of that anymore.
So it seems I'll be forced back into SAD for now until I can afford to rent again.
Pissed off and in need of a good rant.
-
Just do what you can. Surely there are some things you can still eat raw and the rest, well get back at it while you can!! Good luck with it.
Raw for TODAY
-
I agree with snoops.....definetly do what you can! Fruit, nuts & veggies are easy raw foods to have that don't look like a lab!
-
Is it poss to have just fruit and simple salads. Heck you can keep the fruit in your room. Perhaps hang on later for the more prepapred stuff, (sounds good tho!). Get yourself to potlucks and around some raw 'peeps' for encouragement. Hang here .
-
Yes..not having all kinds od stuff all over the kitchen wouldnt stop me. I would eat simple raw in my room.
I love this...one who doesnt want to do something finds and excuse, one who wants to do something finds a way.
Not saying this is you......but I see, there is ALWAYS a way in any circumstance.
-
try to get an dorm fridge to put in your room & keep things in there including nuts & things. try to do your juicing when they are not home. They just don't understand or don't like all the 'good stuff' in their face;). Don't let them take it away from you. If you do, they will be like this to all of your life. You'll have to give up what you like or is good for you to please them. Hope you can work it out & get out soon.

Nuts are impossible to find here, and there are no raw people either to hang out with.
With all the SAD food they stock it's almost impossible to store fruits anywhere. I can always grab vegetables from the garden, but I get tired very quick of munching on what looks like just a simple salad.
Sprouting and anything that requires blending and juicing is also out of question from now on, which really doesn't leave me much to work with...
-
Tough times call for tough measures...eat fruit...keep a bag of apples in your room, bananas, you can make salads out of anything...millions of combinations...don't your parents eat any fruit and veggies?
-
it's your choice... your path, your life. no one can make this decision for you.
i wish you well... regardless of your choice.

Really, no raw foodies local? Can you say the general area you are in here? Maybe some people will come out of the woodwork and say 'hi, I am a closet raw foody and i am local to you'... ya never know! Also did you check out meet-up?
I understand transitioning you want more complicated foods. You may try like 80% produce and the rest 'what mom has'.. or just pick a % of raw to commit to until you spring outta the house.
I hope all the encouragement on this thread helps. Whatever your path, peace, love happiness!

I live in a small place in the middle of nowhere, in Quebec, Canada. Raw still hasn't surfaced in the "mainstream" anywhere here yet, except maybe in Montreal but anything else is like shooting in the dark.
I'm trying to do my best to keep raw, but 100% raw is out of question now, which kinda pisses me off because I've seen and enjoyed the benefits of it and hate losing them to SAD food...

Wait a minute! I'm sitting here shaking my head thinking, WTF? You are forcing YOURSELF into eating SAD? That's nuts!
If you truly don't want to, then DON'T! Keep it simple for now. You'll live and you'll live to tell about it, then when the time comes to go gourmet, you can.
To me it sounds like you are looking for an excuse to go back to SAD/CRAP foods...for real!
How old are you? Are your parents tying your hands and force-feeding you? If no, then good grief man! Stand up for what you believe in. So what if there aren't any raw food places near you - who cares?
If you TRULY want to live this healthy lifestyle, then NOTHING will stop you...

Vegan,
I'm not looking for an excuse, but just can't spend my days eating just unprepared vegetables or fruits. Even though I know it can be done, I need to feel like I'm eating different stuff and prepared foods once in a while.
Apples, bananas, kale and tomatoes tend to become bland real quick for me...
-
What were you doing that they thought you were conducting science experiments? I mean green smoothies satisfy tremendously, and that combo would make a good smoothie...the apples/kale/bananas...kale is a little strong though...
Would your parents try any of your food you've prepared?
I just hate to think that you KNOW this is so good for you, that you feel you have to give this up.
Why not cut a deal with the folks? Ask that once or twice a week you ALL do Raw days?
They might surprise you and want to join in...
-
Personally I've found I can eat the same fruits and veggies every day as long as I have a good raw dressing. Takes about a minute to put a dressing together. You can keep a small personal blender in your room. Can't find what you want raw there? Go online.
I agree with Lucy (VeganforLife).
I'm wondering why you came here to tell us of your plans. Did you want suggestions? If not, give us the script and we'll go by that and not waste OUR time "trying" to help you do this.
Oh wait! You did say you just needed to rant. O.k., rant on ~ thank everyone for their comments and... we'll just move on, 'k? :)
