    Default Any Diabetics Out There?

I was wondering if there are any Type II diabetics on the forum here. I was diagnosed a little over a year ago, and am trying to get off what little meds I'm on. Simply Raw really inspired me to try to nip my condition in the bud.

I'd love to compare notes with someone else.

I was... not any more though. Raw took that monkey off my back ;)

All I did was eat raw... anything I wanted... and it just went away. My doctor said I don't have it anymore.

I am prediabetic by FBS and HgA1C standards. Probably would fail a glucose challenge test, but fortunately no doctor has asked me to do one since I was pregnant, lol. My prediabetes (EVERYONE on my mother's side of the family is diabetic) and my migraines are my main motivation to going raw. Only 2.5 weeks into it so far but I have seen my FBS drop as low as 85 on some days!

I'm diabetic. On two meds and two types of insulin. For me, things only get worse.

    Julie,

Why do you think that is? Were you eating enough/tons of greens, or too many bananas, nuts etc?

Will you keep trying? I'm supposing so, since you are still hanging out on the forum! Hope so!

    Good luck,

    Hello Jane B.
I am new to this site and I am a Type 2 Diabetic. Have been for over ten years . I have just recently been trying the Raw Food approach to lowering my blood sugar . I find the only problem is controlling the amount of Fruits to Greens in my smoothies to not shoot up my blood sugar. On the good side it is working along with exercise the best any approach has ever worked. Don't give up your meds , I find that to be something that will take along time. I would love to hear from other diabetics about how the mix their fruits and greens and what kinds of things they use in their raw diets. Robbay

Lightbulb Lab Tests say pre dibetic too.

My Lab results came back pre diabetic too. I was watching closely and found that clucose numbers jumped when I ate any sugar, or got really emotional, stressed, crying. My morning numbers have been the pits. My Dr. said there are reports that also link diabetis to sleep deprivation. When sufficient sleep was restored, the diabetis disappeared. She also has seen that a raw foods diet has completely reversed this disease in her patients. I have been told that cinnamon, 1/4 tsp is a dibetics best friend. So I sprinkle that liberally on my food and drinks.

    You are not alone, BelleSong

Julie, You are correct about Diabetes being progressive. While I think most cases will be greatly improved by diet, I firmly believe that there are cases out there that require meds. This is no way reflects a wrong on the part of the person with the disease. It is the nature of the beast. Fortunately for many Type 2 diabetics, diet is king.

    Talking pre-diabetic

Hey, I'm new to raw since January this yr. Two yrs. ago I was diagnosed by one doc that said I was pre-diabetic. Went to another and he said I was not diabetic in any way. Decided to try to avoid the problem and went to diabetic classes which was like going to weight watchers. Eat anything you want in moderation. Didn't make sense to me when I was told that carbs and stress cause diabetes. Everyone wanted to give me a free monitor so I acquired 3 of these all different. Tested with all 3 at the same time and came out with 3 drastically different readings. Gave up. 2 months ago I got a scare. Wasn't feeling good and grab a monitor and took a reading: 495. OMG I panicked. Grab Gabriel Cousens book "There's a Cure for Diabetes" and went on a 7 day green juice fast. What a change. In 4 days my reading was 85 and lost 15 lbs. Tried to eat after 7 days had no appetite. Lived on grape tomatoes and kalamata olives. Everyone got worried about me and told me I had to eat. Soooooo I did and I ate my way back to where I started out. 23 lbs. less though. FBS started to rise and I started to feel sick again.

Needless to say I'm back to juicing and eating raw. (1 week) I find that if I eat fruit in the a.m. and veggies in the p.m. my FBS will stay low. (85-120) depending what and how much I eat. I'm starting to feel good again and but I'm eating way too much fruit, fresh & dried. I'm going to attend Alissa's class at the end of August. I am really excited. It can't happen soon enough for me.

By the way and also own and operate a not raw bakery & cafe. Am planning to turn that around too.

I have actually found that when i eat ONLY fruit I do better with my numbers as I am a type 2 diabetic. I have only tested this for 2 days so will keep trying and report back...

I am pre diabetic... my family has a long history of weight issues and diabeties. My mom has was diagnosed 10 years ago. I firmly believe a balanced raw diet will help with overcoming diabetes and the complications of diabetes medications. I wish you luck and support on your journey.
