Default Help my baby gain weight!

Hi, my baby is 22 months and 18lbs! Her ped does not seem too worried, however he is pushing things like PediaSure, which i don't want to give her at all!! she is really petite all around. her weight gain has always been slow. we did raw for the first 18 months and then traveled a lot out of the country... her weight seemed to go down when we introduced SAD food. she loves shakes, shakes and more shakes! does anyone have a good recipes for fattening up my little girl? any fun finger foods? anything!!

Are you still breastfeeding? If so, your milk will be more then enough.

My daughter i think was about 3-4 poud more at that age and she was on my milk still and was eating a hempseed smoothie with fruits.

Coconut (You can buy baby coconut at the asian market) is great for children and hemp seeds.

    Default wt gain

try almond milk. My dd is small also...7.3yo & 41lbs. she's very active. I noticed when I keep her on almond daily, her wt increases. She works the fruit/veggie right off. I try to feed her every 1 1/2 hrs to keep her going. She's a veggie but not raw. She's not a fan of many raw..just started eating salad & blueberries last month. Doesn't like pineapple or strawberries.

second the almond milk smoothies , can make with bananas or berries .
to the banana version i add dry dates and carob powder

sesame seed milk may be good also as ive read in several old books sesame was used to put weight on the ailing

    walnuts put weight on me

    so does avacado

alissa makes this on recipe with half raisins half walnuts coarse chopped then pressed at a 3/4" thickness into a pyrex / sided dish . then make a frosting in blender to coat this base with water / dry dates / lemon , then put in freezer a while to stiffen for nice cutting like brownies

and i eat walnuts and bananas constantly for breakfast

Has your doctor been using the old growth charts (based on mainly formula-fed babies) or the new charts that were put out by the World Health Organization that are based on a sample of breastfed babies? This makes a big difference, since bf babies tend to be a bit smaller (though big fat bf babies are perfectly healthy too). Keep in mind that those charts are based on a normal, healthy population, ie some babies have to fall in the 2nd percentile...some healthy baby. Genetics is another factor, what were you and your partner like as babies? In my experience as a breastfeeding support mom (and I've spoken to many, many mothers) doctors get their knickers in a twist with babies who fall on the lower end of the scale, and there is no need. As if moms don't have enough to worry about! The best indication of whether your child is healthy and thriving is by looking at all the other aspects of their development. If everything else is developing as it should, I don't see why there would be cause for alarm.

    All the best.

my eldest daughter was always very low on her weight... she was slim her whole life. now she's 22 and still slim.

some kids are smaller than others. but you would know if it's actually a problem or not. personally i don't agree with fattening a child up just to conform to societies idea of weight.
