Yuppers, I do know and I know one really has to be prepared or will not enjoy it or keep to it 'specially if there's other stuff around calling our names. You getting a citrus juicer or, you have that already and looking to get a fruit/veggie juicer?

I personally wouldn't keep juice in fridge for more than a day. It tastes off to me the next day.

I would squeeze lemon or orange juice and freeze it. When ready to drink, stir in some room temperature water in your jar to melt and mix with frozen juice. Enjoy!

Not my experience. Lemon juice is actually a preservative ~ for awhile. It does go bad. Orange juice goes bad faster. We go through about 35#'s of oranges a week, doing what Jehote is asking about ~ making 2-3 quarts at a time. No problem for us.

Not I. Freezing kills nutrients. Breaks already delicate stuff down as does juicing a couple of days ahead I guess yet, if kept in airtight bottles.... Hmmm.

But then, it's up to Jehote to find what works best. Freezing is still better than purchasing the junk from the grocery store.

Not for less expensive models. I went high end all the way with Excalibur, Green Star Juicer fruit/veggie juicer (now have a Samson), CitriStar citrus juicer (upgraded that now)...

Personally, not sure what "reasonably priced" is for you yet, there are posts here from others who've gotten juicers for say, under $100 and they seem to like them. Might do a search or put out the question with your financial limits and see what comes up.

If I were going to purchase another fruit/veggie juicer, what I would check out would be Samson, Green Power (or, whatever they're calling it now) and Omega. Hoping that helps. :)

What I have heard about keeping juice is to use the small mason jars and fill them to the top so there is no air space. The air is what contributes to the oxidation. I have also heard that you have about 48 hours to use it. However, I kept some carrot/beet juice slightly longer than that and it still tasted great.

Matthew - for citrus - it's just too easy to do it on the go. I have 3 of these:

    http://images.google.com/imgres?imgu...%3Den%26sa%3DG

small medium and large - and they are colored green, yellow and orange - for - that's right! limes, lemons, and oranges.

They work great! Easy fast and kind of fun!

After smashing in the press, I can usuall wring out a bit more juice by hand - but it is all squashed up and pretty easy.

    Fresh is best!

Ooooh, I've been wondering how well they work. Glad to hear they work well. I'm adding those to my wish list. Is there any such thing as too much kitchen toys? LOL

I love love love my Omega juicer. In your first post you mentioned reasonably priced. I would go for an expensive one. The Omega was $279 Canadian. It is miles above the cheaper ones. Staying at SIL's and had to use her Cheapy (Jack Lalane I think)centrifuge one and the juice was horrible even thought the fruit was fantastic unjuiced.

Had to send my Omega for warranty work (I think I did something srong and the switch just needed cleaning - fast service) and decided I couldn't be without a juicer so I got a Hamilton Beach for $40. Used it about twice and put it away and waited return of my Omega. I am having fun juicing now - will blog about it later.

So I would say doesn't really matter what brand but go with the masticating ones not the centrifuge ones. They whip the juice around so fast that it is awful and foamy. And I hear the whipping really oxidizes and you lose nutrients quickly.

Just my 2 cents. You may have already got one by now. I'm only looking in the juicing thread cause I just got mine back and am playing!!

    Default Orange Juice

I just went this am & bought my 1st juicer. Juiced 2 oranges. Trying to drink it now - it stinks & is so bitter! Is there something I can add to it to sweeten it up a bit?
    Thanks!

What kind of juicer did you use? A citrus juicer or... ? Orange juice should be sweet. Can always add the usual sweeteners. What do you usually use to sweeten things?
