Default June 6th 2009 Raw Challenge - Day six

    Welcome to day 6!!

  2. #2

    Default New Beginning

Today I'm actually going to start my raw journey 100%, so it would be my day one. Im pretty excited! Unfortunately we had a party tonight and I went WAY overboard on the cooked food because I kept telling myself since it's my last day it would be ok. (And its midnight now so by tonight I meant yesterday evening... =D) I can't remember ever eating as much junk as I did tonight when I wasn't raw at all. =( Not such a good idea when I've spent the last two weeks being at least 90%-100%raw. Feeling a little sick =/ But i'll just remember this feeling and it will help me keep on track during this month. However I'm not going to call it my 30 day challenge, because I'm planning on staying 100% for life. I feel so much better and energetic 100%, it's pretty great!!

For some inspiration I went online and picked out some cute clothes that I'm planning on getting as a reward when ever I lose my thirty pounds. Just a little motivation!

I'm so glad summer's here! Nothing like enjoying some nice watermelon while resting out in the sun by the pool ;) Very refreshing and relaxing!

Now that school's out for the summer I've felt a lot less stressed which is really nice!

I'm looking forward to a wonderful raw summer!

Antaria, good on you, I'm excited for you! And I used to be exactly the same re the cooked binge the night before!!! LOL! You're on it today and that's all that mattersxxx

B - mango, strawberries, grapes and a peach
L - lettuce, spinach, olives, tomatoes, cuc, s/dried toms, olives, pine nuts, macadamia, olive oil and lemon dressing
D - small bag potato chips

Unimpressed by my lack of will power when it came to the potato chips. Using pregnancy as an excuse?

Really sleepy, tired and a bit sad today: PMS!!! Totallty unintentionally overate yesterday when i was sampling all the batters for the Mortal Sin cake, so if someone even speaks the word "dried fruit" to me today i think i'll puke.

B - Orange, banana, apple, avocado
L/D - Big green salad: fresh cabbage, romaine, broccoli, celery, zucchini and evoo-dressing

Might have some wine tonight, my sis is coming over. I guess i'll get completley drunk from one glass since i haven't had any for months...

I forgot to post yesterday. It was a pretty tasty day:

B - green smoothie with spinach, kiwi, frozen banana
S - sliced strawberries, brownie (dates, pecans), and cashew creme
L - sunflower pate, cabbage, avocado and onion, wrapped up in large collard leaves, two flax crackers
D - giant romaine salad with avocado, onion, spiralized carrot and beet, and miso dressing
S - young coconut water blended with frozen pineapple (so good!).

Haven't had anything yet today, but looking forward to my usual green smoothie, which will be made with red kale.

The days are really flying by- almost a week at 100% raw

-2 bananas w/ raw cacao powder
-green smoothie (2 bananas, kale, frozen strawberries/mango/blueberries); 2 bananas w/ raw cacao powder
    -3 bananas, apple
-apple, banana, handful of baby carrots w/ maybe 3 T guacamole (bad food combining, eek!)
-huge salad w/ mixed greens, red pepper, carrots, tomatoes & vinegar; banana w/ raw cacao powder

I may have another apple or banana later...wish I had some other fruit to mix it up a little! But all I have left is apples & bananas.

I'm still feeling some concussion symptoms so I didn't work out today, just work and planting my veggie garden :) I have kale, 2 types of lettuce, red & orange sweet peppers, cucumber, eggplant & tomatoes. Can't wait til I can harvest everything!

I loved this day! I was satisfied and full and without cravings all day. You can't ask for much more than that.

LiveLife and Sheena C - I'm so glad to hear that you are noticing some great changes. The last time I did 100% raw was the August 2008 challenge and by the end of the month I noticed a LOT of wonderful improvements, so I know you will too. I'm looking forward to experiencing those improvements again.

24 oz green smoothie, orange juice, pineapple, arugula, baby spinach
    seaweed curry cabbage
    Lara bar
raw trail mix (cashews, almonds, walnuts, raisins, cranberries)
    broccoli salad
salad with romaine, shredded carrot, shredded red cabbage, baby spinach, arugula, spring greens, avocado, dulse dressing
    cantaloupe
    pickled napa cabbage
    48 oz water

When I took this challenge last year the first week was the hardest for me. I had soooo many cravings. This time around has been much easier for me probably because I continued to eat most days at 100% raw and I was really careful about what and how much cooked food I ate. I'm really excited to see how I progress through the month and beyond.

    AMAZING DAY!

woke up at 6 am to get in the car with a dear friend, and we rode out to a national park. Northwest coast forests are intensely, deeply, mossily beautiful. Like dinosaur forests. And we sat in hotsprings all day. My friend is also totally supportive of my eating and we munched on chashews, peaches, apples, and salad.

Yesterday was good too! Every year in Portland Oregon there's this meetup called the Village Building Convergence for people interested in permaculture, community building, and creating positive solutions to ecological problems. And they had a local and raw dessert spread that was insanely good! Raw strawberry cheese cake!!!:)

    so yup, Oregon is Eden.

Had a total "home" day... didn't leave the apartment all day. I made raw bread for the first time! It's almost ready to come out of the dehydrator. I can't wait to make a sandwich with it tomorrow.

B - smoothie with lots of kale, an apple and a banana
S - two kiwis with cashew cream
L - large spinach salad with hemp seeds and miso dressing
S - several flax crackers, couple pieces of pineapple
D - large salad with romaine, carrot, beet, hemp, onion, sesame seed dressing
S - frozen banana, mango and blueberries run through the Champion.

I didn't get to write here yesterday but I will now as if it is June 6:

Today, at the end of the day I had a craving for something but I couldn't figure out what it was! I tried something sweet, something salty, etc. I think in the end it was that "full" feeling that I haven't really had in a while, you know, the cooked food full feeling. I never thought I would miss it but I guess it can creep up every now and then. Also, I found out I am absolutely in love with kale chips! What a wonderful way to eat your greens! :)

JuanaV - kale chips are dehydrated kale. You tear the kale leaves into smaller pieces and I either mix them with a little olive oil, salt, and pepper, OR I mix them with dressing and spread them out on a dehydrator sheet. They are WONDERFUL! There is a really good dressing recipe that I use for them posted on this website somewhere.
