Default I had blood analysis- now I'm totally confused!

I have been raw now since the beginning of this year, having given up on being a hardcore carnivore for the sake of my wellbeing.
I'm working in the UK at the moment, and there have been quite a few lapses, but thankfully, tho I have partaken in a little goat's cheese from time to time, and fallen for a few sugary snacks, when I've found myself out and unprepared, I have not fallen back into my previous meat guzzling habits even when faced with HUGE temptation.
I remember being in Thailand and being told that my diet was too acidic, but I thought that this was mainly due to my overconsumption of animal protein, and that would be fixed by going raw.
I went for blood analysis in London a few weeks back, and was told that my blood was a classic case of PH imbalance, and still extremely acidic.
    I was very dissapointed.
He also suggested a program of basically avocado, lemon and cucumber smoothies up 4 litres of it a day, and cutting out pretty much all fruit because of the sugar content, most nuts because they are acidic, and some have some weird bacteria that u can see in the blood- basically cutting out most of the stuff I've been living on as a new raw foodie!
I tried the avo smoothie once and hated it!
I love avos in salads, and choc mousse etc, but I couldn't see myself forcing down this smoothie in those huge quantities for the forseeable future.
I'm a little crestfallen- Do I try and stick with this PH balance program in the hope that it cures me of my Lupus, or stick to what I've been doing?
    I'm confused- help!!

According to dr Robert Young most fruits and nuts gives an acid reaction in the body i.e. makes it more acidic and that most greens and veggies gives an alkalinic reaction in the body i.e. makes it more alkalinic.
Most of us eat to much acidic food and to little alkalinic food that can balance the acidity.
There are also some people that are selling green powders and alkalinic drops to mix in water that lowers the pH in the body.
My own experience when I started with this is that I am getting stronger (no muscle pain after training) and get more energy.

More info at http://www.phmiracleliving.com/ and of course you can google it to in order to find more info.

    I hope this helps =)

The person that suggested that smoothie could probably suggest another one that would have the same effect but that you may prefer. Talk to them again and see if they can come up with something better.

Most greens are alkaline so experiment with your smoothies. Try wheatgrass in them or rejulalac.

If you are enjoying your current way of eating (meaning - it is doable and you can generally stick to it)

Maybe try just adding one thing at a time. My first advice is fresh juiced wheatgrass, which according to sproutman is great for alkalizing the blood.

If you don't partake, start out slowly with about a day and progress up to about 4-5 oz - probably best to do in 2 doses per day unless you are super hard core for it. Give it 3 months and retest - see if any progress.

If no progress at all - up the juice or start adding or minusing other things with an eye towards improvement.

I test my PH often and am usually quite alkaline on lots of nuts and fruits. I think it differs based on the person.

What if you made a salad of cucumber and avocado with lemon squeezed on top. I could easily tolerate this far better than blended in a smoothie. You could also add fresh basil or dill for extra flavor. Also, try to eat more green salads. Eating more greens will definitely help you become alkaline.

    Also, asparagus is VERY alkalizing.

You might want to get the book "Alkalize or Die" by Dr. Theodore A. Baroody. He lists all foods and their acid/alkaline values, plus a 21 day menu for alkalizing your body. The menu includes cooked foods but I think you could easily modify it for a raw food diet. He includes lots of green salads, fruits, smoothies, nuts and vegetables.

Fruits listed that are highly alkaline....

    avocados
    all berries except blueberries
    dried dates and figs
All varieties of melons (especially watermelon)
    papaya
    lemons
    limes
    mangoes
    pineapple
    kiwi
    raisins

Vegetables listed that are highly alkaline....

    asparagus
    carrots
    celery
    chard
    dandelion greens
    endive
    kelp
    lettuce
    parsley
    watercress

    also alfalfa and chia sprouts

    Hope this helps. Good luck!

Considering all the OTHER diseases an acidic body is hospitable to, including the big "C", and considering that you already have lupus, I would suggest following this (very enlightened) doctor's advise. It's amazing to me how many people will unquestioningly undergo treatments as horrific as chemotherapy, but they won't drink a smoothie that can heal them without side effects because of the taste. I love life and would drink just about anything nature-made that promises to heal me and keep me alive and well. But that's just me (chemo-survivor). What's YOUR priority? BTW, you can get your taste buds used to anything over (quite little) time.

My friend who runs www.awesomerawsome.com cured herself of lupus 20 years ago with raw foods. She eats low fat, high fruit, high greens and it's never come back and she has more energy than anyone else i know at 48. Maybe you could try that or pick up 80/10/10 by doug graham and see if a simple raw food lifestyle will help you faster. :)

When you are detoxing, your ph can be acid.

Also, since you were eating meat for many years, your body will go through detoxing / healing etc....

I agree for eating more leafy greens. Keep your great job with whole plant foods.

It took me a while also to maintain a balance ph but now, i seem more then ok

I think Dr R Young mentions in his book that almonds are the least acidic nuts - maybe cut out all apart from almonds.
I also read that walnuts are very acidic.

Congratulations on your journey so far, one year raw is amazing and you should be super proud.

I'm so surprised no one has talked about emotions here. Ph is NOT just a factor of what food you're eating. It also comes from your emotions and stress and exercise, things like that. Frustration, sadness, anger, stress, lack of fulfillment, overwork, feeling a lack of control -- these things are VERY acidic. Their opposites, such as feeling love, compassion, exercise such as yoga, running, swimming, even walking, are all alkaline.

As well, soaking nuts makes a big difference in how your body responds to them, as well as making sure they are raw. Most raw, soaked nuts are NOT acidic. Roasted or unsoaked may be acidic, but it varies depending on the details.

A good drink that is quick to chug and cheap to make is a tablespoon of ACV in a cup of water. Very alkaline.

Another option is drinking water with sliced cucumbers and lots of lemon.

I don't know all of your details, and even if I did couldn't say anything for sure... but feeling frustration over how much you do NOT enjoy this alkaline drink could be worse than not having it!!! Our bodies are so smart and well made but also complicated!

No matter what, make a special effort to put love and joy into the time you create and consume any beverage or food item. As well, not eating or drinking when you feel anger or other negative emotions will help. Conscious eating where you focus only on the food and how it nourishes you (not email, not work, not friends, not family -- just you and your food nourishing your being)...

I hope that helps. I've spent a lot of time researching this issue and am happy to say that I no longer bother with checking my pH levels because they were finally ALWAYS great when I ran out of my strips! :)
