MUST see DVD, not personally connected.....
Hello all,
I apologize in advance if someone has already mentioned this video (which i am sure someone must have), but i have just watched this video and will read the book also....... i have no connection whatsoever to this, i am just an average 55 year old woman trying to change my diet.
The video is "Eating", made by Ravediet.com, it is all about the damage done to human health AND the environment by a meat-based diet, something we all already know, but this is the best video i have ever seen on this topic. It just blew me away. I also just read John Robbins' book, Food Revolution, it's a few years old but also, one of the best books i have ever read. So this will really help anyone out there who is new to all this like me. I have been changed forever.

changed forever.....
Not only has this DVD changed me forever, my meat-eating husband, who has patiently been listening to me explain why i need a Vitamix (got it!!), listening to me talk about the horrors of factory farming, eating processed food, on and on, and i'm just learning myself.......this husband has announced that he no longer wants to eat meat and is trying to eat salads, coconut oil, fruits, making his very own smoothies with spinach, a 100% turnaround from what he has been eating his entire life.
Even my 26 year old daughter is fascinated, asking lots of questions, eating salads at lunch (graduating from a hot dog, fritos and a grape soda)......drinking smoothies, changing one meal at a time.
I feel like i've been reborn, now if only i can resist my Lindt chocolate.

changes..
my meat eating husband is asking me about the ingredients of everything he is eating. I tell him about raw foods, he is just now interested in being a vegetarian, that is a huge step for him. I think raw may be a little too much for him, but we'll see. The book by John Robbins, Diet Revolution, was really the final turning point for me, and now my hot-dog, grape soda, cheesecake-loving adult daughter went to an organic co-op today!! This is unbelievable. I wonder where the original inhabitants of our house have gone???

incredibly, incredibly inspiring. thank you for sharing. it gives me hope with my own family.
from a purely psychic viewpoint, your family has a strong family agreement to support each other's well being, goals and health. your oldest child chose you & your husband as her parents for this reason. you are the catalyst that opened the dam with regard to the changing diet. you're a very powerful spirit. :)

yeah it's great, there's a post i made about it in the regular forum. I want to give that to every single person I know. But I know that most people will not be receptive or be ready for it and you have to wait for people to ask you for information.

update....
Thank you everyone for your kind words. The husband is continually reading about vegan eating and the other day i almost fainted off my couch seeing him eat an actual salad. He is (was) a meat-eating, weight-lifting, former SAD-eating New Jersey kind of guy. He's not ready for raw yet, he's just learning about animal products and what they do to the body and environment. He is astounded at what he is learning. He deeply loves animals and this is all making sense to him now.
My daughter now goes out of her way to go to a wonderful organic market near where we live, and she goes there every single week, instead of the cheesecake factory! And i have discovered kale, i am vegetably-challenged, i have trouble even identifying them in the store. I am however a chocolate expert!! And this has gotten me nothing but tons of extra weight. Anyway, the kale is cute and i'm adding the curly stuff to my smoothies. My next adventure is to put an entire carrot WITH the green top into my smoothie, that will be exciting!!! Little steps at a time....

There is a free screening of this movie next week, I think I'm going to have to arrange babysitting and take my husband along! He's eating more raw and loves the changes he sees in me, and recently we've been discussing the idea of animal products not being necessary in our diet - even detrimental. He's such a meat eater that I'm just thankful that he is talking about this with me and has an open mind! I can't wait to see this movie...

Pls forgive me for not printing a very scientific disagreement about this movie, but I'd have to watch it again to cite point-by-point, how I felt this movie went a little overboard.....sort of.
Of course I believe in a raw plant-based diet or I wouldn't be here, but I remember watching this movie with my vegetarian dh and telling him yeh but, yeh but......
I do eat small amts of animal-derived foods. I eat eggs and meat from my own humanely-raised organic chickens. Even the meat birds I'm raising now are roaming free and being raised by a mama hen.....etc etc. Any other meat, which is minimal, is venison, or raised by friends etc.
My point is, I can eat small amts of animal protein and feel okay about it, so long as it's humanely raised or wild. Of course, when this movie makes reference to animal factory-farms, the points are well taken.
At some point, I'll re-watch it and maybe come back.
The one thing I like about this site is the openness and acceptance people seem to have for others. Hope everyone doesn't hate me, but I felt that movie was biased and not objective in some ways.

Its funny you would mention the humanely raised...I just this minute stumbled on someones blog. The analogy she used was if I walked up and slit your dogs throat, would it be OK because it had had a happy life so far?
Not as a criticism because I do the same thing. Don't eat flesh but do eat "free range" eggs and cheese from a "humane" dairy.
I am thinking I need to re-think my free range and humanity. If animals can feel pain then I think they are self aware and who are we to kill them to eat them or even to force them to provide milk and eggs. Its barbaric really.
