Default Guinea Pig with a "Cheeto" 'stache

Dbf and I were feeding my guinea pig a flower last night and noticed he was getting a little "cheeto" mustache from the pollen! How cute!

    Isn't he cute? :)
My animals go wild for these flowers! Not sure what they are, but my dad says the squirrels eat them from his garden. So, I took some and my animals absolutely loved them! My rats fight over them, lol :)

They look like a daisy with pointy petals, bright orange with black markings like a butterfly. They grow in almost a big bush like daisies do. They're so beautiful, good to know they are delicious too!

Definitely a dandelion flower! My piggies adore them too, and always get little yellow mouths! I used to have 22, but now most have passed away and I am left with just 6, of whom 4 are over 6 years old, bless them. I am devoted to guinea pigs, but cannot take on any more because vet care here in rural France is appalling where guinea pigs are concerned, and I can't bear it when they become ill and there's nothing I can do. Twice I have taken one all the way to the UK to a guinea pig hospital I know there, but in both cases they have passed away anyway - one, Scoot, just on Monday.

One thing that does puzzle me is that guinea pigs naturally eat a raw food diet. In fact, I have noticed that I am now virtually eating the same diet as my piggies, with the exception that I am not giving them sprouted seeds. And yet guinea pigs still develop cancer - how can that be? I suppose there must be something in the pelleted food we humans give them that triggers it - although I am always careful to give mine pellets with no artificial colourings.

What is the name of the piggie in the photo? Mine are called Soulage, Sable, Ambree, Gisele, Soturi and Minstrel.

    Wheeks!

thanks all! :) He is my little dumpling!
Deb, that's so sad about your piggies! Mine was only sick once, but it turned out he just had some sort of heat rash. Hasn't had a problem since. I've had him a year now. I feed him a lot of raw food, but also supplement with healthier kibbles. I would feed him 100%, but I can't afford that. He would eat me out of house and home! haha

Jenna, would you believe it, I have 3 guinea pigs now! I actually like them a lot more than the ratties (we are down to one b/c the babies we got were picking on our older one). We have one smooth guinea, one Abyssinian, and one Teddy Bear!

I just sent my daughter into the yard to pick Dandelions for the guineas. I set them in the grass sometimes but they haven't seen the flowers yet. Can't wait to try it!
