    Default heart worms & de-worming naturally/raw?

    hiya :)

i was just wondering if it were possible to get rid of heart worms and intestinal parasites in dogs & cats naturally?.. i know in cats, there's no traditional cure for heart worms (unfortunately).. so.. anyone know about this? i emailed someone & didn't get a clear response.. but he did say that he gives his animals garlic and cayenne pepper for fleas & ticks. he said that using the pepper with the garlic helps counteract the anemia dogs get with garlic... don't know if that's true or not, but there you have it. lol

    alrighty, thank you :)

    Default rid worms naturally

    hello,
i am using DE. diatomaceous earth for fleas around the house, i springle some on emy dogs back and on her bites and in her food, i heard it take a couple of months to rid of parastes in people, i don't know about how long for pets.

please google, diatomaceous earth, "FOOD GRADE" not the one at home depot, or one you us to pools, it must be food grade. you can get at health food stores ot natural medicinal stores. do not breath in the powder though your nose or mouth. but other than that is is amazing stuff.

I actually make my own flea and tick spray so I do not get any chemicals from the vets. I do, however, use heart worm preventive because there is actually no natural preventative that is proven to work. I wish there was a less harsh prevention method but I honestly can't experiment on my pets' lives with a highly invested mesquito area. I actually do not give my dog's heart worm prevention during the cold and icing months because mesquitos are not around. This starts around the middle of Dec. and ends around the beginning of March here in VA but other states obviously vary. Icy cold winters here are very short but I figure any opportunity to stop using meds, I will! :)

I'll go ahead and say it now: heartworms are usually fatal. Wild animals eating a completely raw and organic diet DO still die of parasitic infections. In this instance, I believe bowing to the wisdom of modern medicine is NOT a bad thing.

Garlic in large doses is toxic to dogs/cats. Sprinkling a little on their food every three to four days will not usually cause a problem, but giving it to them daily almost certainly will.

IF your animal already has heartworms, you will probably have to go through the very intense (and often deadly) treatment program with arsenic which causes the worms to die off. You have to keep your animal very quiet and still for several weeks to allow their body to slowly process the dead worms out - too much activity could cause the mass of worms to clog the heart or another important vessel and kill the animal.

There ARE natural options, but they are iffy in my opinion. However, if you are willing to take a chance with your animal, the options exist: http://www.danebytes.com/heartworm-cures.htm

    Default Natural Heartworm Remedy info

Yes, there are actually quite a few natural heartworm remedies. Just a little reminder; It's important to do your research when attempting to treat any medical condition yourself.

This site claims theirs was proven effective.

I agree with Erynne. I err on the side of caution on this one, however, I only give it to my fur buds from last to first frost.
