    Question Raw and ADHD?

Just curious if anyone has experienced an improvement in AD/HD while eating a raw diet? I have a son who has it and wondered if this would help him at all - while I won't force him to eat a raw diet, perhaps increasing his raw intake and reducing his grains, etc., might help. I've already reduced his dairy down, HFCS, red dyes, etc., as well. Thoughts?

Hey zoocrew -- I just returned from a business trip + music festival in Austin, Texas AND my husband was here to visit from Brazil AND I am slammed with catch-up work.

I have written some information that would probably be helpful to you, but I don't have time to dig it up for another 1-2 days.

I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that raw food is the best thing I've ever done for my ADHD issues. I get to keep the good and throw out the bad. I stopped taking medication a couple weeks after going raw. I had tried multiple times before that without success (as a child, teen, college student and adult). Raw is GREAT for ADHD!

A good start for your son would be to make sure everything is gluten-free, casein-free, to get him lots of omega 3 fatty acids (I have a fair amount of flax seeds ground), and to make sure he has a place to put absolutely everything. Organization is key. It sounds like you're already moving in the right direction! Please do share your experiences with us as you have them!

(And it does take time! I made some changes in my stepson's diet that helped quickly, but it was not immediate by any means.)

Thanks so much for your input and help! I'll be trying to introduce more raw veggies into his diet. I knew that the Omega 3 is key for his ADHD but he tends to fight me on taking his "fish" pills, lol. I'm lucky if he takes his concerta daily without a big to-do. It would be nice if he could simply eat a diet that would reduce or eliminate the need for medication. Again, thanks!
