    Default Freezing/Cutting/Logistics with Chicken

So....the cats went wild over their first raw feeding and now I'm wondering how you do this. If I want the BONES in there (I'm trying to help one of my cats gums to avoid surgery so she needs to much on some little bones) do I chop all of the chicken legs up really good and then separate it into portions in the freezer and then just take out the day's worth in the morning (or night)???

Any ideas to make this easier? Do any of you just give your cat the whole chicken leg?

Also, can I freeze and refreeze chicken?

THANK YOU!!!! Any advice is appreciated. They are happy so far!

I probably won't be of much help to you, but want to encourage you to keep it up. I have a golden retriever and a 16 year old champion siamese without ANY teeth. I cut up the chicken into 14 oz. pieces for my dog (he gets that amount twice a day) and keep the entire breast for my cat. I put it through the meat grinder that came with my kitchen aid, but sometimes also chop it up in a little B&D food processor. Either way works. My cat will not eat the dark meat or the skin, bones, or organ meat, even if I grind it up with the breast. He's getting very old for the type of cat he is, and his kidneys and thyroid are getting worse, so I give him the ground chicken breast to make him happy, plus lots of love for as long as he can hang on. So, do your best. Grind it all up together, bones and all, if your cat can't chew the bones. His gums will get better just from getting raw food. Start him chewing on the smaller wing bones, and eventually he'll probably manage the legs as well.

i just give my dog the whole leg, and he eats it up. easy as that.

might be different with the cat, cuz the cat might eat less so smaller portions?

it's better not to cut up the bone because they can choke with the small bones. the big bones they don't choke on.
